4 nominations left for the year, we have a few guys that are a chance or a great chance at getting a nod. Laird being the most deserving followed closely by Brown with others like Lyons and Grigg. May as well keep all the hope/frustration in one place right?

After 5 games in round 20 the best chance for a nom from all teams so far would have to be Tom Young of the Bulldogs. Had 21 and a goal in a win over the Blues. Wins really improve a guys chances of getting a nomination, especially verses teams with finals on the line. Thomas Young has played consistent footy for the Bulldogs since moving from Collingwood. The Bulldogs who have played decent football these past few round have guys like Hrovat, Hunter, Stringer and Johannisen who have all pushed for a nom for them. Macrae and Talia already nailed one each for WB. Injuries have kept a few of those guys out but it looks like unless one of our guys (or another team) has a stellar game that Young will be a great chance for it this round.

Guys like Curren and Newnes for STK didn't do enough in a losing side but Newnes is a chance to land a RS nod before the season ends for good form over a long period. The only other decent performance so far is Colquhoun for Port who needs another few steady games before being a chance. Hopefully Laird has a great game and Grigg does well in his first start. At this point of the season it is the only real thing we can root for now. (although some people like to root for guys to be delisted, but that is something for another thread).

I don't really get why people get so worked up if our players get over-looked. I mean, sure, it's nice for the player to get recognised, but I'm more worried that they became good player for our footy club. If Talia didn't win it last year, would that make him a worse player?

Things will get interesting if Grigg kicks a handfull of sausage rolls tommorrow..

RS nod is something fun to watch for, I have never been fussed if we get a nod or not (except for '11 when Sam Blease got one over Gunston's 6 goals). It's nice to see your guys get recognised but there is no 'Improvement' to our team if they get a nod or not, hopefully they play well and have a long career for us whoever is eligible.

After hearing about laird having a chip on his shoulder after not getting awarded before. Was it the AA U18 team, not gettin drafted? I wonder if it would be better for him not to get nominated..

I can see Mitch Grigg getting a nom before Laird.

Laird does his job well most weeks. But he is not as attacking a defender as other defenders who have got a nom.

Grigg has the potential to rack up 20-25 possies in a game in the middle with +5 clearances. This is the type of player the selectors of this award love.

And he should play near 22 games next year and be eligible still................

Adding to Tom Young's strong chance for a RS nod is Viney who had 24 touches (alot of HB assuming from clearances/hard ball gets - 12 CP and 8 Cl). They lost to GC but Viney had 2 solid games in a row V GWS and GC. He and Young are the likely ones at this point. Could go either way if no one proves them selves today.

Laird's solid second half really puts him in it for a nom this week. We won and he had an influence with 24 touches (most in the second half). He would be the most likely one now I think but I can see Young and Viney pushing. Surprised if it's anyone else. This week probably works out well for him.

Young has played 12 games avg 17 touches a game. Both he and Laird had their poorest games of the season last week so it could go either way. Laird has had better individual games than Young overall but I don't see many WB games.

Young was really good though. I wouldn't be too upset if he got it over Rory

Yeah WB Young - ex Magpie. Looks like it's him or Laird this week.

Wow, if Lachie Neale didn't play 11 games last year he'd have nailed one down with his last month.

Laird finally gets his nomination. Well deserved.

Viney, Young, Grundy, Yeo, Newnes and Colquhoun all playing well enough to snag a remaining one of the three left. Brown and Grigg a slight chance but perhaps we have our quota with 3 now.

Yeah him and Kerridge would have to be favourites for the award next year

Viney looks to have a nom earnt this wk - tough game v Freo - 28 touches n a goal - season form should help beat out other contenders.

Grundy for Coll looks good to grab one of the last few noms with his form, Yeo and Docherty had strong games for Bri v GWS

Gorringe played his best game v Port.
