I heard on the radio today that Ade are chasing Rivers and Thompson both of them out of contract and they said they would want 250-300 thousand next year. And Ade are prepared to pay that and more for Rivers. With Bruce and Robbo also out of contract next year maybe a couple of more not sure. We might have to let somone go I really hope not. I think that Rivers and bruce we must do everythink to hold on to them and even thompson so if we had to get rid of one i would say Robbo but hopefully melb has more money than i think they have.

Robbo should of always gone and would have to this time. How could we let woewodin and powell go and keep roberston? seriously, this guy was picked up in 'almost footy legends'. its just crap. he isn't smart enuff to be a good contributor in ourside at the moment

A bit harsh on Robbo.

He never commanded the pricetag of Woey or Powell so that is irrelevant.

A lot of Melbourne supporters jump on and off the Robbo bandwagon.

The same goes for players like Wheatley, Whelan, White, Yze, Broadbridge, Miller etc.

Just relax a bit until the finals have finished and then start worrying about all this re-signing caper.

By the way, if Rivers and Thommo want to leave Melbourne or accept a more lucrative offer from say Adelaide or Port then they are not what we want at the Melbourne Football Club.

We want committed, passionate and loyal players wearing the red and the blue. Robbo fits that criteria and that is why we wont trade him.

With that been said, I have no doubt in my mind that Jared and Thommo are 110% committed to the MFC and that will be shown when they pledge their futures to the club.

Rivers and Thompson might be a 100% commited to the MFC but if we dont offer them a good contract well of course there going to leave. But this is going to happen year in and year out with us not paying all of our cap.

It seems it could be a big problem if these guys want big contracts. We must remember that we have to sign Davey up as well I think. Maybe we might have to trade someone like Johnstone or make him take a pay cut.

On SEN 1116 recently Craig Hutchinson stated that the Crows were looking at both Thompson and Rivers for trade deals, mainly because of the salary cap issue.

Thought I would just let you guys know.

I would not take anything Craig Hutchinson says too seriously.

Inaccurate and unreliable journalist who accused Justin Koschitzcke as being one of the St Kilda alleged rapists.

There have been other instances when Hutchy has been way off the mark.

As for trading Yze, you've got to be kidding me.

out of bruce, robbo, rivers and thompson bruce has 2 be the number 1 priority

then rivers then thompson.

also can someone fill me in on our current salary cap issues, will we be needing 2 get rid of players?

Why not? If we got offered something good. He can't even be bothered to bend over and pick a ball up and gets half his kicks from playing on after a behind has been kicked.

No room for sentiment.

just a quick point for you guys, Thommo as much as i would love him to come play for the crows never will! he has said too many times publicly that he hates the crows as he is port born and bread and will not play for us! i dont think you will lose either of them though because we wot trade our first round pick and that is what you would be wanting! i wouldnt be stressing especially if it came from mr reliable hutchy

Yep pretty much how I see it.

We weren't paying the full cap this year, and will have added room from Neitz going onto the veterans list. Should be able to keep the group together.

What a load of garbage.

Clubs don't trade 200 game players unless a huge off the field incident occurs (Carey).

Yze has been a fine servant to the MFC and should not be traded.

Think about trading players who aren't up to it first.

200 games is going to mean ******** if he doesn't show a bit of heart.

Johnstone has escaped criticism this year because he has been injured half the time. But I haven't seen enough from him to warrant a definate spot on the list.

If the deal is there, then I think we should look at it. Look to the future and build our team around the McLeans, Sylvias, Thompsons, Rivers, Millers, etc... Imagine we got another two or three young guns to join this group.

But I'm not saying we definately must trade the two mentioned.

I'm all for us trading TJ but Yze is a player we must keep.

When it comes down down to it everyone is tradeble as long as it is a good deal. But saying that i wouldnt like to see Yze go but i think TJ would be good trade bait.

Im with DB regarding Yze. NO WAY should we even think of trading him. He's a good chance of winning AA selection this year anyway, and will probably finish Top 3 in the B&F. Unless the deal involved Nick Riewoldt, Yze is an untouchable.
