Used to be one of my favourite, if not favourite players. Now he looks miserable constantly and has a very low impact on the game. Hope he turns it around as if teams tag Macrae he’s the next guy to step up!

Yeah same here. He was one of my favourites too. He has had some pre season setbacks and niggles but he seems to have been playing quite average for awhile now. That last season of Ratts it felt like we would have lost every game by 100 its without him. Really hope he can get his form back

Just watching the replay now. First quarter, Stocker smothered Riccardi's kick them follows up with a beautiful meaty tackle on 198cm Taylor, THEN threads a pinpoint pass to Wood who goals.

Not ONE commentator even mentioned it despite the repeated replays in the wake of Wood's goal. If that had been Dangerfield or someone the pundits would have screamed about him being the GOAT. Hopefully our coaches are giving him his flowers in front of the other players at least. Geary / Hayes-like culture booster stuff.

Who knows but I think RTB did give him some direct feedback at the start. Just hope he can get back close to his best. Will make a big difference. Was looking good against the cats tho so hopefully he can get over his niggles and get into form

I recognise that it's early in the season but if Steele continues like this I'd be happy if we bring in Worpel as a FA and trade Steele for a 2nd rounder. He hasn't looked interested for a few years. Seems miserable and has been a GOP for the past couple of years. Looks likely to be overtaken by Pou, Windy and Garcia shortly.

You're right, he did start the year well but then reverted back to the pretty average form of the year prior. And he looks a step below that this year, with continues knee problems. The knee issues may be the main reason for his form drop, as it's very unusual for an inside mid to drop out of his prime at 27 years old.

With everything going on at St Kilda I'm not confident in the club's ability to manage knee issues in general. Crouch, King, Henry, Steele...

But IS he struggling on the ball? He still gets good numbers, or reasonable numbers. Like MacRae, he is one of those players who just blends in to the chaos. I barely notice Steele. Never did. Even Seb Ross, until his last years might have been like that too? He never looks emotionally charged. And he doesn't explode. Maybe that is the thing? He's not your Powell-Pepper type.
