Watching Adelaide vs StKilda it seems that the crowd make some noise just as the ball is thrown up after a Crows goal. Thinking it might be some kind of roar meter type thing. Wondering why we don't have the roar meter at the G anymore?

Mate havent heard that word since I was a kid.

Mate that is the best description of the Roar Meter that I have heard.

More chance of bringing back those scoreboards where the numbers hang off pegs with little kids changing it through a small window.

Agree. When you have to start manufacturing atmosphere, your sport is in trouble. I like basketball but that's the thing I don't like about it - lame attempts to hype it up. I hate it when the screecher on the PA at the footy is yelling at us, "Here they come! The mighty Richmond Football Club! Come on Tiger fans, make some noise blah, blah, blah..." when the Tiges run out. The only reason we go is to see the Tiges play and hopefully cheer them home. All they need to do is start the song as soon as we hit the top of the race. Pretty sure we can connect the dots from there. The Roar Meter was neither natural nor spontaneous.

Crows home games have what they call the 19th Man. It is cringeworthy and wreaks of American basketball crap. I hope we never bring back that lame Roar Meter. Embarrasssing.

I think the one I'm thinking of had a black background? And the tiger actually marked the ball, side on, at the top of the balls flight.

I might be wrong though. Perhaps it was a save our skins advert?
