Hard to decide on votes tonight.

Lalor - class anytime he gets the ball. I'm content to have him mainly forward and slowly build up his midfield minutes.
Trainor - been overshadowed by Lalor this season but not doing much wrong and will only grow.
Gray - Not overly involved, but would be happy with that as a debut
Banks & Trezise - slowly convincing me that they have a future in this team.
Seth - even the great small forwards will have quiet games. Was a tad slow and caught with his decision making when playing around the ball up, but this is the season to develop that in him.
Dow - needs to build on this. Showing signs he could make it
Ross - Had some good moments as well as some ordinary ones. Both him and Dow in danger of being discarded and upgraded.
Lynch - I think he's cooked and basically only in the team as a coach but is still our most dangerous forward by a fair way.
Vlas - the sole reason we won last week but not as good tonight but shit happens.

Not one to pot the umps and overall they may have been passable but when the Dee's came out with elite pressure of 230 odd after half time and got their mid's + Gawn cooking, that little run of four or five very borderline decisions that went against us in the first 6-8 minutes of the 3rd basically gave them maximum momentum to pile on the pressure and goals.

Game over.
That’s a fair assessment. They really brought the heat and some shitty decisions put us behind the eight ball.

Good post nro
Max Gawn was huge and continues to torment teams that don’t have a plan for him.
I don’t know why we spent the first half kicking down the line to him.

Keep playing the kids
Keep being patient

The club won’t make excuses and play the victim, they’ll get on with it and keep working to improve themselves.
Good post brother.
We all want the Tigers on top where they belong!

Hard to suggest changes when our VFL team were so awful.

Personally I'd rather see Blight over Faull/Armstrong, nothing against the kids but they need a couple pre-seasons so they don't get pushed off the ball. I'm not sure playing them in the ones is really speeding up their development that much.

I'd still like to see one of Sonsie/McAullife rotating through the midfield. Maybe drop Ross (who's developed into a mediocre player with a low ceiling really), or have TT play minutes as a half-forward. Our midfield did fine tonight but it's depressing getting smashed by a bottom-4 team which is only a bit more inexperienced than us, and barely having any changes to make.

Seriously starting to doubt Yze’s ability as a coach. Every game, and particularly the ones against Melbourne, are Groundhog Day. We are just so dumb. How can we not know by now that you don’t kick it anywhere near Gawn or Petracca? The Demons are just about the biggest sooks going around but our half-hearted ‘efforts’ and sub-standard players, such as Maurice Rioli Jr, made them look like 1980s Hawthorn.

One of either Dow or Ross needs to be shopped around. Both are often accountable, but rarely influential. We can't have both of these two in the mid, moving towards our next flag.
Miller always cops the opponent A grade fwd. Considering the terrifying rate that the ball gets in our D50 I reckon he's got the toughest gig in CFL. Put him in a Scats jumper and he's automatic AA.

As disappointed in a result as I have been all year to be honest.

Genuinely thought we were a big chance tonight.

Skills were appalling, accountability was the worst I’ve seen all year, and our decision making very questionable.

Gawn may as well have had yellow and black on tonight. Wouldn’t have thought it’s hard to work out. Don’t put it in his area.

Liked Gray, Dow, Trainor and Taranto. Vlastuin is a freak and you cannot tell me he isn’t the best defender in the comp right now.

Disappointed with Campbell, Rioli and Green tonight. Need more from them pressure wise, Melbourne walked it out of defence too many times.
What about mansell I don’t see what coaches see in him does f all meant to be a pressure forward and is nowhere near it

What is Jack talking about? I wouldn’t be taking anything positive out of Melbourne beating us after we’ve had a short break.
Honestly, in that first half playing say the Pies, Dees would have been 40+ points down at hapftime.

Our execution tonight was just poor, we looked flat footed and tired which is to be expected for a young side off a short break.

I certainly wouldn't be getting too carried away if I were a Dees supporter. Essentially their goals came from either our horrible turnovers or iffy freekicks from the very generous umpires.

That’s what happens when list management neglects the tall forward stocks for too long …. We are expecting first year players like Armstrong and Faull to compete each week when they can’t yet

This is incorrect. We simply can’t catch a break. We could have Gibcus/Young playing down back and Balta/Lefau up forward with Lynch.

Game plan could’ve been simple …

DONT KICK IT ANYWHERE NEAR GAWN!!
Watching from level 2 on the wing was perfect to see how we waited for Gawn to get in position and nail him every forward entry

Think I’d rather drill holes in my head than go through that again

Commentators talking up Melbourne like they’re actually an in form team is laughable.

Jonty started to clunk a few on the smaller defenders at the end, good signs.

Lynch really looking like he’s back.

Defenders turning it over trying to kick it through the Demons zone was an issue, Shorts hack kicks also added some unnecessary pressure.

5 day break was an issue for a few, especially Rioli. Looked clueless at times.
