The missed pass from Faull to Green.
We convert four outve those 12 misses and we win easy.

Sonsie would’ve been in the bests at half time but still plays like he’s scared of getting pinged holding the ball.
Needs to get that outve his game.

There’s alotve daylight in class and composure between Prestia and any other mid we have, that’s what we need going forward.
Not sure what the answer is.

So we're halfway through the season and this imo is our b31 that've played so far -

Vlastuin, Balta, Gray
Short, Miller, Brown
HRS, Prestia, Banks
Lalor, Armstrong, Campbell
Mansell, Lynch, Sims
Nank, Taranto, Hopper
McAuliffe, Ross, Broad, Green
SUB: Trainor
EMG: KMac, Blight, Dow

Depth: Sonsie, Trezise, Smith, Faull, MRJ

Still to come: Gibcus, Alger, Clarke, Hotton, Smillie, Lefau

Im glad we are getting games into McAuliffe , Sonsie , Smith , Gray and the kids
Next week just 2 changes and i want trainor rested and not play VFL

Out : Trainor , McIntosh (rested )
In : Clarke , Blight
Agree, those two need to come in.
Hard to find a backman to make way for Blight, but Trainor most likely.

Sydney's confidence will be back because they know our guys can't play the game out, or take our chances when we're on top.
negatives:
lost.
Couldn't finish out the game.

positives

margin 3 polnts.....in SYDNEY.

Prestia IN. Short, Kmac & Dow OUT

no injury to Prestia.

face the SYDNEY RABBLE at the MCG next week. Sounds like the tiges performance at milestone matches over the years.

one of our 2 wins last year. Balta back in and win # 4 coming up.

They're some great numbers, but stats don't tell the full picture.

Dion was instrumental in repeatedly getting the ball cleanly from the inside out, allowing us to move the ball from stoppage to I50. We've been missing this all year.

I don't know the score differential from stoppages, but it seemed that it was an area we dominated for three quarters. Dion was a big part of this
If I had the choice of a brand new Recruit in Dion or Harley Reid, I’d take the meatball. What a gun

Plenty of positives, and as much as I hate losing, to see the young talent developing and a game style taking shape is more important. And if we are honest honourable loses aren’t such a bad thing re draft pick/s and addressing list deficiencies come November.

Breakout game for Sims yesterday, you could see the confidence growing with every contest. Compared to his first couple of games, where you could see him trying to stay out of Lynch’s way, he is really imposing himself on every contest ground/ aerial.

Really liked Hugo’s game. He was the one that was still giving us drive in the final Q when everyone else was spent. He’s a much improved player under Yze. Kicking has improved, intensity has improved. 20+ touches on a wing is a great result. Most winger’s cover around 14k a game and average 1 possession per km.

Banks is the other big improver this year. Had my doubts, but he’s become a very important player with his meters gained and kicking. Think that’s 3 or 4 in a row from him now.

Nank, Prestia, Hopper and Taranto all good. Just needed some more outside speed around them.

Players who have surprised me this season, elevating from fringe or delist category:
Sam Banks,
Hugo Ralphsmith,

Then to a lesser extent: Prestia, Gray and Miller. Exceeded expectations but not as surprised.
Sonsie and Rioli both had some good games but I need to see them carry their form for longer.

Players I'm yet to see enough improvement in (not that its too late)
Kaleb Smith (but hopeful),
Samson
Green
Bauer

It’s a game that many didn’t believe we’d get close to, but we put in a good effort regardless.
We did, but to then choke from a winning position makes it very disappointing.

To me anyway.

how quickly some supporters are to write off our players. in one of the other threads I suggested the Meatball is a gun and has runs on the board and was savaged. Well he may be 32 but he is still one hell of a player and makes us look infinitely better in the midfield.
Problem with meatball is he’s a part time player , mind you great player when fit

oi m8 do you still reckon harley reid should choose essendoom hawks or scats instead of us

It was very disappointing but I suppose it was a choke through lack of legs and inexperience over the moment getting to them and bottling it in my opinion. Giants were also playing their best footy for the day.

More forgiveable I reckon.

I'm most disappointed with the misses in the 2nd and 3rd quarter. We were smashing them in the middle and getting good entries, more of the points being goals would've probably meant more entries, more chance at goal and a larger lead going into the 4th.

Last quarter was rough but it wouldn't have mattered if we capitalised properly.

Very good discussion and vision on the footy show this morning about how and why Richmond lost the game yesterday

We just stopped attacking and went extremely defensive very very early in the 4th quarter
we changed the way we were playing the game for 3 quarters attacking the ball and taking ground and taking opportunities and honoring the player making space to receive.
In the last quarter we just stopped attacking and trying to score and constantly going backward because we had most of the players in the defensive half so not having players foward of the ball and Richmond just invited the pressure.
Was not on just 1 player but the entire team and coaching staff
