I just mean a player with a great leap, that could match it with the big tall guys, but was more mid sized and able to be more of a midfielder. Brennan was just the best/first player that illustrated the type I was talking about.

Just looking at the AFL draft camp records, Kade Kolodjashnij seems to have massive hops, imagine if he could be used to create a ruck contest, but as soon as the ball hits the deck your basically up a mid on the other team.
Smaller guys like that wouldn't last too long getting bashed and crashed all day unfortunately. Great in theory, but could you imagine a guy that size with Sandilands or Mummy mauling them all day?

Yeah I spose, but they would give guys like Warnock a bath

Ballsed up big time letting Sauce go. I know he wanted to go and what not but we should have tried our darndest to keep him. That was mistake no 1. Once he was gone we were left with Knockers, Hammer and Krueze... Krueze and Hammer can play in the same team. Warnock and Krueze can't. Should have off loaded Warnock.
I know Hammer used to drop a mark every now and then.... but at least he was able to lead up and take some marks too. Warnock has 0 ability to go forward and clunk a few.

I'm on record as not being Warnock's biggest supporter, but the club's to blame, not Robert himself.

We chased a young ruckmen, gave him a long term contract and a huge hit with the money stick when we had just drafted a young ruck of incredible potential. We needed someone to protect MK, we chased someone in direct competition with him.

We rookie a young ruck who develops more quickly than just about any ruckman I have seen in my time, and we retain two projects to let him walk to Adelaide. You would think Warnock type money would have secured Jacobs at Carlton.

Two franchises establish and we choose to hold on to Warnock when he has shown no clear signs of being the ruckman we hoped. Indeed we offer another long term contract to stave off interest.

When the opportunity comes to trade a ruckman we retain the only combination of the three that doesn't work.

RW's been gifted someting in the order of 2.5 million over the years to wear the navy blue (or not as it has eventuated just as often), We have two more years of this to look forward to. The football department could not have orchestrated a worse outcome.

All we had to do was say to him, sign a new contract with us or you can take your chances in the pre-season draft and you could end up anywhere !!

Absolutely correct !!

We traded him in and paid him accordingly, it was all our doing, what was he meant to say "no, don't pay me that much yet".

This is another example of poor list management and then ongoing individual player management. One day we'll learn how to do it professionally but that may be by the time I've shuffled off this mortal coil.

We got Robbie because he was seen as Sandilands understudy at freo. We thought we were paying unders for someone who would turn into a fantastic ruckman.

That hasnt eventuated.

When we got Warnock, we had about 6 blokes on the list who could play ruck... we wasted all that time and effort on getting in pure ruckmen and ignored the fact that we needed KPP.

The Carlton list management and development over the years since Parkin retired has been awful. We put all our efforts into the wrong areas and forgot to recruit for and develop the most important. If you get the spine right, you can build the rest of the side around that. Our spine sucks.

I have given Warnock a fair bake over the last few weeks. He was really good this week. This needs to be his new measuring stick. This is what he needs to start delivering week in week out.

Will never be anything more than a lazy player - he knows he is playing for his career right now. I hope he has a great year proves me wrong and gets us a first round draft pick when he gets put up for trade.

After being a 206cm witches hat for the first 4 rounds, it looks like the penny has dropped.

He was much better around the ground on Sunday, and his second efforts were actually... there (instead of sitting off the pack after every ruck contest). Very Matty Kruezer like.

Had him in my best.

Keep it up Robbie.

bloke can't win

His best is AA level, Warnock just needs to apply himself a consistent basis. Coming up against the best duo in the competition now with Naitanui and Cox eager to redeem themselves after they failed to beat Lobbe which is a huge test for Warnock.

These statements are made too often but I think it's true in Warnock's case, he finds another gear in finals which is a huge value and he is capable of delivering it to our mids on a platter. We've already seen two good performances around the ground this year from him so even that criticism might be unwarranted if he can keep that up.

I think we have a few players whose laconic nature is stopping them from going to the next level.

Gibbs, Lucas, Warnock and Yarran are all players who could really make a name for themselves if they worked hard for it. It's no surprise that we won against the Doggies when those four went in hard.

Same scenario with Garlett.

In hindsight it hasn't worked out as well as we would have liked. At the time though, we took Robbie because we could. He was wanting to leave Freo - because he wasn't going to get a game in the same team as Sandi - and a few clubs were interested in him. The fact that we were able to secure Robby was chalked up by everyone as a success by our recruiting people at the time.
So we can't really blame the recruiting either for how it's panned out. It seemed like a good move at the time and we would have felt it remiss of our people not to chase Warnock when he was there for the chasing.

Credit to Yarran whose attitude has been great this year.

Yes.
The penny certainly seems to have dropped for Yaz, who has displayed a more fanatical edge to his game this season than we have yet seen from him. I think Mick has reached him.
Touch wood he keeps it up!

He doesn't even have to be that good each and every week, what i want to see is that obvious raise in intensity that just wasn't there the first 4 weeks. He clearly has it in him, he only just chose to employ it last week.

If Warnock had the constant intensity and will to push himself of a Matty Kreuzer, he'd be a champion
