RUSSELL Robertson has a passionate message for angry Melbourne fans: We bleed too.

The emotional Demon was burning so deeply after Saturday's loss to the Bulldogs he verbally lashed out at supporters who questioned the heart of some teammates.

"I didn't like hearing my teammates cop a mouthful," Robertson said yesterday.

"I basically told the supporters the players did have heart and they were trying.

"They were getting personal, so I snapped."

What a legend. Warms my heart to see somebody really firing up, and it's even more amusing to think of mutant fans copping it back for once.

"In a typically honest interview before Melbourne's huge clash against Adelaide on Sunday, Robertson also said:

THE Demons were complacent going into their Round 1 match against Carlton and ended up playing "stupid" football. "

Absolutely, completely, utterly unacceptable for melbourne to be 'complacent' against anyone and yet it happens time and time again.

I wouldn't have begrudged Robbo punching one or two of those supporters, either.

If you pay your membership, you expect to see a better effort from some players, especially players like Miller and Neitz, Ward who looked disinterested, Whealen, White and a few other players. I suppose Robbo can yap since he kicked three goals although his game against Carton was a total holiday.

I reckon it is good for the side to take a bit ******** because they really are a sooky bunch of pretenders.

gotta love Robbo.

I try to do my part by telling the bandwagon melbourne supporters who are quickly jumping off (why I bother I don't know, I hate bandwagonners) that its only two games in.

With Melbourne you know that no matter how badly they play, they can beat any team on their day. We probably have the biggest gap inbetween our best and worst of all the teams in the league.

Look at last year, we played some terrible football yet still beat Adelaide (minor premiers), Sydney (premiers) and came within 15 points of west coast (runners up)

atleast with Melbourne you can always rock up to the game knowing that something special might happen. Gotta love footy and its unpredictability.

and we are, on the whole, a sooky bunch of bandwagon supporters. Just look at the crowd on saturday. If there were more than 5K Melbourne supporters I would have been surprised, it was dismal.

But what good does it do to yell abuse at them? I'm a member year after year, got to plenty of games, and will continue to do so regardless. You need to be loyal and support the club in it's worst times, as anyone and everyone jump on when things are going right. Supporters hurling abuse and leaning over the fence to get in their face doesn't help the cause.

Its better than clapping them off, i'm not condoning what those supporters did but the way our boys have played in the first 2 games this year is pretty abysmal stuff.

I would never consider hurling abuse at the players no matter how badly they play but i can see where those supporters are coming from, and i hope the players take it and can use it as a stimulus on the weekend.

We all lose it when they're playing terribly but you've got to laugh when you see a hundred fat bastards who have never run a day in their life leaning over the fence giving it to the players for not putting in. The good news is that if you follow this logic you're allowed to hammer the coach, because concievably anyone could do that no matter how out of shape or stupid you are.

It wasn't me leaning over the fence and stop calling me fat!

Actually I agree. Most of what I wrote was a load of twobble. I just wanted to see what reaction we got.

R.E my cooment in another post aabout Yze not hiding behind his computer.

You are talking about jumping on the team when it is down, and yet most are hanging it on Yze every bloody week. No one really knows why he isn't playing at his best. he may be carrying an injury or is ********ted of with the coach or is being played in the wrong role.

Two years ago, Yze was a ledgend - now he is the most bagged out player on this forum. Now if that isn't getting in a players face, I don't know what is.

As the saying goes, you need to walk a mile in someone elses shoes before bagging them out.

yze is bagged every week coz he plays badly, but daniher shouldnt be putting him in. its not like hes gonna offer to be dropped, daniher needs to make a move. if i was yze id be playing every week if i got the opportunity no matter how badly i played the week before.
i no a lot os dumped on the coach but this IS his fault, he never makes decisions quick enough on match day, and sticks with the older players week in, week out. even tohugh our side this week actually looks very young.
sorry for going so far off topic

Isnt the whole reason we as supporters are bagging Yze at the moment the fact that we know how good he is and we are so used to seeing it that when he isnt delivering, we jump on his back?

I dont think we'd bag him as much if we saw a bit of commitment from the guy, doesnt have to be much, but if he jumped into a contest, or ran back with the flight to punch, i'd certainly stop bagging him because at least hes showing some form of commitments towards the teams cause.

Getting personal is stepping over the line. In those cases one could forgive a player for wanting to get physical. The yobbo's are fortunate in that the players don't go there.

I've been a paid up member of the MFC for 18 years & I get damn angry when it appears to me that they aren't giving 100%. As a stakeholder I have earnt the right to my opinion. People will not fork over $200 odd every year for nothing, every now & then ya do go off at 'em. However personal jibes aren't on.
