How bloody good was he tonight?

from the limited game time, had a massive effect on the game.

set up so many goal opportunities (including 2 shanks from Milne and Eddy)

ran hard, man I think the player on him couldn't keep up and wasn't born when he started playing.

didn't see who it was, but almost always seemed more tired than banger a good few steps behind.

I thought he was quite damaging wiht his hard running and making hte most of his opportunities.

The normal pisstaking about how old he is, and some stupid questions from Sam Inane.

Laughed when they showed a clip from his "early days", which was probably circa 1930!

Harvs basically said no chance of going on next year, and would have retired already is we were going to miss the finals.

Was a bit evasive on Ross Lyon, although I guess coaches are all the same after you've had nine of them.

Mentioned some funny stuff about getting out of Plugger's way at training.

They also showed him yawning when Anthony Rock was trying to impart his knowledge. Dave Hughes said he needed a granny nap!

Robert Harvey- a true legend of the game, should go on again and go for 400.

Can somebody please tell me why sam lane is still on before the game. Absolutley a pitiful disgrace of a reporter, Obviosly daddy pulled some strings to get daddy's little girl a job.
She should stick to baking cakes, actually probs not that either because she will stuff that up aswell.

Good thing Harves was on before the game because other than that it was a complete dud of a show. Anyway it looks like we've positioned ourselves just right so that Harves plays for as long as possible. A premiership and he'd be gone, out of finals contention and he'd be gone, at least being middle of the road this year we've gotten to see the great man for another year.

Yes I was really frustrated by Sam Lane's line of questioning. Then again, I realised how totally disfunctional most of that bunch are right now. They're bickering with each other all over the joint - I suspect it's going to go the way of the dodo at the end of the year.

Vossy and Harvey were just shining lights of class in the midst of it all.

I didn't quite read it that way. I thought he meant that he would have retired last year if he had known how bad it was going to go this year.
But for next year he will wait until the end of the season to discuss it with RL.
So it depends :
Whether the Saints can go good enough to make him think they are a chance for next year.
How hard RL tries to persuade him to stay or go.

He also commented on how it was getting a bit hard, and how he really needed the week off the previous week.
I really cant see why he cannot be given the occasional week's rest. He would still be carrying his weight better than many on our list. ( What's the most games in a season X has ever played ).

I don't min Hughsey, and he bailed Harvs out after one of the fools (I think Sam Inane) asked another pitiful question.

I enjoyed the old footage and the yawn joke. But yeah, they laboured on the old bloke thing and the haircut which Harvs swatted away saying he'd heard it all before. The green room cutaway with Harv's 40 year old bald kids was a bit embarrasing.

I actually think Mick Molloy looks like he'd rather be elsewhere lighting his own farts. Struggling to fill Peter Helliar's shoes for mine.

The whole show is designed as light entertainment, and is really the opposite of a show like football confidential. Nothing is taken seriously and every topic ends in a joke.
Some light entertainment before the show is fine, but then they should refrain from trying to make news ( for example when Fraser gehrig is on the show ) and ask deep questions.
It ends up a bit like the prime minister releasing details on the budget on Hey Hey its Saturday.

Sam Lame tries it on every interview, then giggles it away breathlessly if she looks too blunt (which is the case on nearly every occasion). Give me Caro every time - at least she has her own sources for information.

I liked that he said he'll continue playing as long as he pulls his weight for the team. And thats fair enough, at present I don't think anyone would be doing nearly as well as him if he had retired last year.

Although it would allow Eddy, McQ, Jones and Armo to get more of a run through the middle, but I think they'll be learning so much from Harves and would much rather him be there then not.

Hope he continues on with the Saints in some way or form after he retires. Have a few years break and then come back, maybe as a midfeilding coach. Assistant or whatever.

The AFL's oldest player Robert Harvey says he is ready to retire, after 20 years at the top.
The St Kilda champion says he has decided this season will be his last, marking the end of a stellar football career.
'The body is starting to slow down a bit and obviously I have tried but you can't play forever, and it will most likely be my last year,' said Harvey.
Harvey played his first game in 1988 at age 16, when the competition was called VFL.
During his time at The Saints the dual Brownlow medalist played with a number of great players.
'Definately the best player was Plugger in his day, and when he was on fire,' he said.
After having seven coaches during his time at the club, Harvey says he may be heading in the same direction.
'I have been joking around with a few of my teammates that I am going to play local footy and stuff, it's going to be hard to get used to not playing.'
