Robert Walls, you have once again proven to be an imbecile.
Your story in this morning's Age is again another complete fabrication from start to finish.
Having read the first few paragraphs and your comments about Cameron Ling shows you clearly do not take in enough about football, apparently you do watch it because we have to listen to your dull monotome drawl every week!!!
Cameron Ling is a 2-time premiership player, 200-game player, All Australian, best and fairest winner and captain of Geelong and yet you say if he doesn't perform in this year's finals, he will have regrets once his career finishes???
You use the example of how Lenny Hayes destroyed him in the first quarter of last year's Grand Final and they had to move Jimmy Bartel onto Hayes after quarter time.
NEWS FLASH WALLS... Ling was on DAL SANTO all day in the Grand Final, i didn't see him have any impact on the day.....Do some research you moron!
Bartel went onto Hayes because Thompson didn't want to take Ling off Dal Santo and risk Dal Santo running amok, it was that call which kept both Hayes and Dal Santo in check that probably won us the game.
And your comments on Hawkins are almost as poor. Hawkins has missed 10 weeks of football and only started to ruck this year. He hasn't the technique or the fitness base this year to be a damaging ruckman. But the more he rucks and plays the more his fitness base and technique will improve.
Further more, using other examples like Paul Medhurst (who won't even get a game in the finals), Adam Cooney (a Brownlow medallist and out-and-out star), Brad Johnson (a Bulldogs legend of the game who can hold his head high for his performances in finals, unlike the rest of his side), Zac Dawson (A gap-filling full back and still very raw) and Jarad Waite (a player who has hardly had an opportunity to play finals in his career) as players who will regret poor finals shows a complete mis-understanding of the game.
Time to move to a nursing home where your views might actually be listened to.
