I understand everyone hates life, but before you ditch your MFC memberships for AFL ones en masse can I point out that the club gets a measly $138 from your 'club support', so switch if you must but consider that it's not even giving the club the equivalent of an 11 game adult membership.
To be fair we're going to be getting a fair bit of money from the AFL soon...
So what? That would be the worst reason to pull back on what you give the club. The AFL isn't going to fund us forever - if this money goes straight down the black hole then good luck getting another big payout.
I can say I was a Melbourne supporter before it was coolOR we could switch over to being the AFL's first ever hipster franchise. The notion of a franchise being hipster in itself is already ironic. We would then perpetuate this irony by losing every week deliberately whilst simultaneously having no chance of winning, which we would then ironically celebrate.
The ever-growing Melbourne hipster community would ironically begin following us. It'd be an ironically enormous commercial success.

Is in my familyWas it ever?

So I'm saying that in the short term switching over to an AFL membership isn't a move of Judas proportions if you get conceivable benefits out of it, given the club won't be hurting too much for funding. And before members and supporters are willing again to pay for things like memberships and go to watch the Dees play every week, as opposed to buying an AFL membership and being able to watch any game you'd like where you'll get an actual contest (I'm talking about the broader Demons community, as opposed to the BigFooty loyalists here) it'd be good for the club to show they're going to spend the money responsibly and effectively when it comes to selection of the new board and coaching staff.
Might be saved by St Kilda, but I'm not holding my breath.
Who are we realistically better than?
I have to stop reading Demonland. Now they're saying we should try to trade Howe.
Seriously, compared to that joint, we're all massive massive optimists here.

I just can't handle that the Doggies are now showing footballing coherence and a definite amount of improvement, as opposed to our lemons running around. Sickens me.

It is so frustrating how even they go past us at a rate of knots, having looked so inept in the first half of the year.
That said, I wouldn't wish our continued struggles on them as a fellow struggling club. Good luck to them.
It's interesting. After Round 1 my dad said to one of his close mates jokingly, 'See you next year.'
He wasn't far wrong. We haven't really given a peep.
In many ways, it's been an amazing season for all the wrong reasons. Our percentage is downright awful. Only 3 times have we kept teams to under 100 points, and of those 3 times, 1 was in the wet and another was in Darwin. We've been beaten by 10 goals or more on 11 occasions - more than half our games. There's been no game I can point to where I can really go 'yeah, they put in a four-quarter effort.' Our leading goalkicker has scored a mere 25 goals - by comparison, we've had a bloke playing for Casey put up 30+ in less games.
How many players have accrued 30+ possessions in a game? My guess, perhaps Jones once
