And where did we get Davey from? ...THE ROOKIE DRAFT!!! oh its too good to be true.

Nah I dunno hopefully they all just develop and turn into a Russell Robertson or James McDonald, i mean really, its just a lottery.
Please play the tall guy in defence, please! I don't even care if they just run the Zac Dawson experiment and chuck him in there... even off the rookie list.

Are u talking about Martin? if u are he is on the seniour list :thumbsu:

EDIT:your probebly talking about Zomer my bad :thumbsu:

Selection 35 - Jake Spencer
Height – 203cm
Weight – 93kg
From – Redlands Queensland

Spencer is a tap ruckman who can ruck with either hand, and who often gives his on-ballers first use of the ball in good position. He is a legitimate 203cm, and he uses his height to good advantage. He moves well for a big man, and has a solid endurance tank. He has a ‘hard at it’ attitude, and has a lot of potential for improvement.

Was at Jake's house tonight, he had a bit of a celebration gathering, i played in a premiership with him in '06. Is a great lad and is very happy to be heading to your club, he was wearing his demons polo tonight, hope he earns himself a shot at the big time.

MELBOURNE coach Dean Bailey has indicated the club's new batch of players drafted via the NAB AFL Pre-Season Draft and NAB AFL Rookie Draft on Tuesday have the ability to push for senior selection in 2008.
Bailey spoke enthusiastically about new club additions Stefan Martin, drafted to the club's senior list, and rookies Trent Zomer, Austin Wonaeamirri, Jake Spencer and Shane Valenti.
Asked if Valenti, who won the Round/Fothergill Medal for the VFL's best young player in 2007, was the most likely to break into the Melbourne side next year – if the opportunity presents to promote a rookie – Bailey was confident any of the draftees could step up.
"I'd say that they've all got the potential to make it – absolutely," Bailey told afl.com.au in an exclusive interview.
"There's not one ahead of the other. The only thing that Shane's got in his favour is that he's done all of the pre-season so far.
"The opportunities will be there for them to impress on the track, but the advantage that Shane has got at the moment is that he's trained and he's done all of the pre-season with us, so he's probably ahead at this level and he's given himself every chance.
"I've been really impressed with how he's gone about his business.
"He's trained really well and he's a really good kid, Shane. He's got good hands and he's good in traffic. He came second in the Liston Trophy [VFL best and fairest award]. "[Development coach] Mark Williams certainly rates him and he's coached him and that's important. I think he's going to be a really handy pick up for us."
On Martin, who was the final player to fill Melbourne's senior list for 2008, Bailey said the 198cm tall was raw, yet athletic after only switching to football from basketball in recent times.
"Stef's got really good speed and got a great vertical [leap] and he's improved enormously over the last 12 months when he first started at Sandringham and we think he's a player who can play down back and also up forward," Bailey said.
"He's got great athletic attributes and we think within our coaching structure – with two development coaches and Sean Wellman and Josh Mahoney being backs and forwards coaches [respectively] – we think we can develop him into a key position player.
As for Melbourne's first rookie selection, key forward Trent Zomer, Bailey said recruiting officer John Turnbull had pushed the young tall's case.
"Zomer is a really good player. He's really improved with the Eastern Ranges and his marking really got himself rookied. John Turnbull really liked him as a player and we think he's going to be an option down forward for us," Bailey said.
Bailey said outgoing recruiting manager Craig Cameron had been very impressed with the development of ruckman Jake Spencer.
"He's a tall, developing 204cm ruckman from Redlands out in Queensland. He's very, very competitive. Craig Cameron really liked his competitiveness at Redlands. He's a big bloke, so we think his size will really help us." Bailey said.
"We wanted to have a developing ruckman on the rookie list and he fits the build. He's aggressive and Craig was really taken by him and we thought he was worth a punt as a rookie pick."
Indigenous small forward Austin Wonaeamirri will add forward pressure to the club's attacking zone, according to Bailey.
"He provides really good forward pressure and as a crumbing forward. He's a [good] tackler and we think he's going to fit into our forward structure pretty well. He's currently playing at St Marys, so his fitness will be OK and he is going to be important for us," Bailey said.
