Jayme Graham - South Fremantle, 6 Feb 83, 198cm, 98kg. Not fast but very strong centre half back or ruckman. Was training with the Dockers at one stage last year.

Seems like a good size. Sounds like a Laurie Bellotie or another Brendan Fewster (I hope not).

We missed Johnson and Surjan who were both taken in the PSD but I was suprised when we took Jones before Duffield. As both Jones and Duffield were training with us I am sure the powers that be would have had a close look at them and chose the better of the two. I like the size of Graham and young Embley could turn into a really good player once he bulks up and has a pre-season and some run put into his legs.

Looking forward to seeing the new guys get onto the paddock.

Somebody at WCE must owe Rudeforth something!! If there isn't better prospects running around in the WAFL then I'm not breathing.

Tall CHB type. Pretty disciplined and does his job when asked. Had some handy games this year and is solid without being special. Pretty good overhead. Probably take your 2nd or 3rd tall at AFL level, but always the main KPP in the backline for South along with Tinsley.

Good player, should do well.

Agree with yakuza on Rudeforth, must be a low interest bank loan in there somewhere.

Must be something there?

Yak, were you suprised at the Dockers picking Johnson.

No not really, he should fit in quite well at Freo and I think the Coaching Staff will get the best out of him including improving his self confidence. Stan Magro will be very happy he rated the boy highly and is confident that he will make the grade.
He was invited to train in Sydney but declined the offer, I wouldn't be confident of him handling the shift to an East Coast based Club anyway.

I was suprised that they took another tall after already gaining 3 in the draft. Oh well good luck to him but I would've preffered him at West Coast.

Clancy is one of the hardest workers at the club. He is very highly regarded by the older players for his work eithic so this would explain his reselection. Apparently many of the older players would have liked him to be promoted to the senior list.

I am suprised that WCE didn't go for Hunt before Embley. I personally don't think Embley would of gone at all and could of been looked at for next year.
This could be the only possible reason is that maybe they believe next year Embley MIGHT, MAY , COULD, NAH probably not - cost them more. And that the WCE are not interested in a player that could step up this year for them but is an injury question mark in Hunt.

With all due respect, Nah I won't say it.

I understand that Clancy is a real nice bloke and a really hard worker and all but I think that if you aren't a tall or Key Position Player, you should only be kept on the Rookie List for 2 years maximum. Clancy hasn't exactly set the world on fire in the WAFL and there are quite a few young players who have shown just as much potential. Personally I would have liked us to go for someone like Nick Sas (Swan Districts).

I agree that there is more to being a good AFL player than a hard worker. But from what MDB is saying he is good training meat and sets a standard for others to follow. We took him with our last pick, there was obviously not much on offer so we stayed with someone who the coaches knew would set a good standard for the other young players to follow...

And here I was thinking that was the only reason you posted.

I'm guessing it has something to do with being 'locked-in', something sexually derived or about mental disorders... but of course, Ripper is more inventive than that, aren't you Jack?

I'm looking at that list of players and I'm damned if I can see a backline. Can't see much of a forward line either. Some excellent midfielders, a top ruckman, a couple of decent flankers and winger types, but no kpp's of any quality just yet. Injuries don't always happen, but they usually do, and if the eagles have their fair share of those next season, they will more than likely struggle, because that list seems to drop away rather sharply after the likely starting 22. Some of those rookies could easily replace one or two on the main list right now, if you ask me.

ps this post is not in any way related to any sort of fishing.

What really sh*ts me about that comment is that other teams have "great youngsters" and "talented kids" while we have "no KPPs" and "unproven rookies".
