Looks like we can write him off and assign him to the land of Dean Buszans....

Don't assign him to the scrapheap yet.

He doesn't appear to be in our plans at this stage.

I think perhaps we here have rated him a bit higher than the eagles' hierarchy have.

Maybe we should go down and tell Woosha what we think. ;)
I can hear the belly laughs ringing in my ears now. :D

I wonder who will get picked up with our first rookie draft selection? If we take Embley, we might risk the Dockers taking Surjan, and vice versa.

I'd take Surjan first ahead of the rest.

All the reports I have heard are highly promising whereas Embley is a far more speculative project who may / maynot come off down the track.

I reckon take Surjan who is quality and let the rest sort themselves out from there.

I think we shouldn't pidgeonhole ourselves to just going for local talent.

William Gayfer
DOB: 12 Jul 85 Hgt: 192cm Wgt: 91kg
www.hawkheadquarters.com/...930#Gayfer
and
Chris Stewart
DOB: 12 Feb 86 Hgt: 193cm Wgt: 80kg
www.hawkheadquarters.com/...68#Stewart
would both be interesting prospects but I doubt we will get Gayfer at our first pick #9

Stewart apparently has an attitude problem and only ran a Beep Test of 4.5

Ben Cosgriff

would be another I would like to rookie list.

Its easy for us to forget that we have talent scouts spread across the country and that we need to look further than our own backyard.

No stats but he is tall (I'd say about 197-198) and VERY skinny. He does have a frame though and I imagine in about ten or twelve years he will be a decent sort of size.

Embley the Elder has very skinny legs (Mitchell White style) and isn't the sort to get massive. His brother is a longer, skinnier (but broader across the shoulders) version.

Long-term project.

Perhaps we bring him down here and my grandmother can fatten him up. Im sure it would only take her 6 months to get him ready for the rigours of AFL. :p

Can he kick a football? Is he a good overhead mark? Tell me more!

I have heard a rumour Micheal Johnson has been approached by Fremantle, West Coast & Sydney to tryout for their rookie lists.

Seems Fremantle are the most likely as he trained with them for a short time last season.

But I certainly think Johnno should have been fully drafted anyway... West Coast may live to regret this one!

I would take Michael Johnson before any of those talls from Victoria. I would also take him before Duffield and Embley (Not that I have seen him) and even before Surjan. A real insurance policy if one of our defenders goes down. You can never have enough tall defenders IMO

His attitude is his biggest problem Sera, so I don't think Woosha will take the punt.

I still think Gayfer was one of the biggest missed opportunities in the draft. Apparently Johnson is a bit laconic and not much of the in and under type (an outside CHB). I would still take Johnson but not at the expense of Gayfer.

You just want to see Surjan drafted :p

Never seen Gayfer but we don't really draft his type.

No I meant slow, unskilled, non-athletic players.

When I saw Gayfer in the TAC grand final, I was actually impressed with the way he stood up when so many of his teamates had given up becaused they were getting a shellacking.

He was definately in their best 2 or 3 that day, and I am slightly surprised he didn't get picked up in the draft, so I wouldn't mind if he found his way to our Rookie list at all, although I doubt that it will happen as he isn't Western Australian...its more likely that he will be picked by Richmond/Melbourne or a similiar Victorian Club.

Why does he have to be Western Australian?

"It doesn't matter where the players come from, it's too big of a business now to worry about that" Eagles recruting manager Trevor Woodhouse

Think outside the square. For too long we have only looked at Rookie listing locals. Now is the time to change.
