Our rookie players that we drafted this year are sensational. DeBoer Broughton Pearce and Van Berlo all look like they will be regular players for years.

They will be the future workers for the more talented Hill Suban and Ballantine.

I must say Ballintine really really excites me. He may end up being the best of all our picks this year.

Pearce is the one I can't work out. How can a kid with such a beautiful kick get completely overlooked?

Happy to have DeBoer as well, but I can sorta see why he might not be rated that highly.
I can see why, his kicking style while good at times can lead to some shockers due to the awkward ball drop. In a similar way that Fev can kick some shanks due to his unusual grip.

It was interesting to hear Harves say in his presser that we are about 3 players off having our best team on the park. It would be fair to say he means Palmer, Jonno and Crowls which means Peake has dropped substantially in the batting order.
Hard to find room for those guys when the team puts in like today.

the courage Deboer showed today running with the flight of the ball and not taking his eyes off it was exceptional.

Harvey (and Bond) are collecting players who will be standing when it counts

No doubt. It looks like we have a strategy in drafting now, not dissimilar to what the Hawks did over a few years. You look at Suban and Frodo with their bit of niggle and Hill and Broughton have a ton of courage and you can see a certain type of player coming into our club that will stand us in good stead in the coming years. When these blokes have been playing 50 - 100 games the whole club will be influenced by that toughness and courage. Everybody will be required to to go when it is their turn or they won't have any credibility or respect from the rest of the team. It is a good step in getting our culture right.

Now the big test is to continue our young players development.

In the past our promising young players have been happy with potential star tag and very few have worked hard enough to become great players.

As supporters we must not build young guys up too much. They look promising but unless they continue to work hard nothing will change.Harvey must demand that all players must work hard to improve areas of weakness.

I dont want any more Mcpharlins Johnson Murphy Drum Campbell Haselby types . All of these guys have not got much better since their first years at our club.

Your recruiting guys have done a great job over the last two years.Palmer & Mayne last year and all your picks this year are full of promise.

How is Sibosado going? Also I thought Brock O'Brien was very good in the NAB Cup, where he at right now?

Sibo got himself elevated to the 1st team of his WAFL club Claremont with some decent Reserves games before getting injured. He wasn't exactly setting the world on fire but certainly has massive potential.
Poor old Brock can't seem to get on the park, whenever he does he breaks tears or strains something else.

Unfair on a lot of those players but especially Jonno. Not uncommon for young players to go of the boil a bit. Has shown good signs of playing his best (which is very good) but had a bad run with suspension & injury. He'll be back.
As for someone like Haze not getting much better how do you get better than elite? People keep saying oh Palmer won't get any better, Rich won't get any better. Who caress if you are already a fantastic player holding your own in an elite comp. Good is good.
