Funny that Dogs supporters have suddenly morphed in the Freo supporters of last year when trying to sell Lobb.
It's pretty simple. Some other club offers him a two-year deal on equivalent money to his two years remaining at the Dogs. The fact that multiple clubs are offering it suggests that the best offer will be about that amount.

We paid pick 30 plus a future second, Dogs fans would be happy with half that, which is about a mid-second.

The Dogs get a pick less than what they outlaid for him, because he's two years younger. No Dogs fan is suggesting that we
Despite not being part of the best 22, everyone can see his on-field value is roughly similar to what it was two years ago, hence the salary being equivalent to what the Dogs were willing to pay, and the value of the draft pick only downgraded by the fact he's two years younger.

It's weird because there's a request this early in the season, and he's going to his fourth club. But in terms of valuation, mechanisms and on-field fit, it's actually pretty straightforward.

It didn't make sense at the time for Lobb to want to go to the Dogs, the four year contract cleared up that why, but I do wonder if he had that front loaded and mostly paid by the end of this year - so his next two years might be really cheap for another club to pick up - salary cap wise.

If he has been paid a front loaded deal then Dogs should slaughter whomever comes to offer him a payrise for those last two years he is contracted for.

The guys expensive & soft, not a good combination...

If rumours are true we're dumb enough to be looking at Yeo/Petty on big deals, why not throw an offer to Lobb.
I wouldn't call below average wage expensive.

Isnt he on 700+?
No, it was initially reported he signed a 1.5M 3 year deal, it has since come out he's on a 4 year deal (so 2 years remaining after this season). The figure wasn't updated but you can assume he's on somewhere between 375-500k per season.

In 2022 he had the best year of his career as the main forward target in a finals side.

Now he has spent two years as not best 22 for the Dogs and his on-field value is roughly similar?

He was best 22 for most of Dogs 23 season. He hasn't declined in his abilities since 2022. He just joined a team that has better forwards than him and was pushed out. Dogs bought him over for cover. In a Dees side he'll be doing similar while their youth develops. At pies he's a replacement for Cox who may not be there next year. He does his best I think as the main forward target or as a ruck chop out.

He was best 22 last year clearly.

We have a guy called Darcy on our list currently playing in that role. An absolute freak of a player. List managers with half a clue would realise there’s a very clear reason he’s playing VFL and it doesn’t diminish his skillset.

It all depends on what he is currently on. I doubt you would need to chuck in a second rounder by itself. Or if you do, you should at least get an F3 back. In any case, I don't think it will cost you guys much to offload him.

The scarcity of ruck/forwards in the league is roughly the same as it did two years ago.

In some respect Lobb's form doesn't matter as much once it reaches the level of passable AFL standard, given that there's about 5-8 teams in the league that are having to fill the position suboptimally (either playing two first rucks, getting a key forward who can't ruck to ruck, or simply playing a godawful player in the position). Those teams couldn't really care less if Lobb offers a theoretical 7 points per game value two years ago and it's now 5, he's basically one of about 12 actual AFL players who you can say it at least a 4 or whatever and those teams are playing players who are a negative, or 0 or 1 points per game.
