I will described him like how you said about morabinto last year. Even he come back next year his speed and strength will be affected .

His agility was a weakness to start with, so he can't afford to get worse in that area. Plus I doubt they'll want him doing much ruck work when he comes back, initially anyway. It's a crying shame but if he gets to play 50 AFL games it'll be some sort of minor miracle.

That is the main problem , the game is moving faster. If he can't ruck and agility is not that good ,he can get away playing state football due to advantage in height but will have difficulty with AFL defender with quick Rebound from HB.

Josh Jenkins - 2010, before Ross Lyon (you recognize)
Jeremy McGovern - 2011 Rookie Draft, before Ross Lyon (you recognize)
Tim Obrien - pick 28 in the 2012 Draft, we picked Josh Simpson @ 17 before him. After him we picked Tanner Smith with pick 36 as our next pick.
Tim Membrey - 188cm, not a KPF*
Callum Sinclair - 12th pick in the 2013 Rookie Draft, as a 23 year old.
Ben Brown - We drafted Apeness before him as our KPF
James Sicily - 186cm, not a KPF*
Mitch McGovern - 191cm, not a KPF*
* I am not just using height as an indicator of being a KPF but also how they are used in their side

Ok, so in my eyes even if we had of picked up ALL of those players the only one who has made any impact as the number 1 KPF that we are crying out for is Ben Brown. And as I have said we picked Apeness IMO as that KPF. We can't blame the recruiters for his injury problems or Ross. As Morabito would attest, all the talent in the world means nothing when your body won't do what it needs to.

So going back to your original response:

I don't believe you have shown that there have been plenty of KPF picked when we have had picks available. Especially when you consider the earlier point about Ross Lyon and even more so in a discussion thread about Ross Lyon's tenure as coach.

If we had the picks to access someone like a Peter Wright or a Jesse Hogan and we had not I would be banging on about it like there was no tomorrow. But KPF go for a premium pick which we have not had OR they go as a RFA / FA / Trade request which as we are based in the West we are up against it to convince them (Buddy / Cloke / Boyd / Clark ha!)
Rory Lobb was another missed ,same draft as apeness but went at 29
And if your going to say apeness is essentially kpf you have to rate lobb much the same

Apeness was rated as the 3rd best KPF in that draft after Boyd and McCarthy....Lobb was always considered more a ruckman.

Im not saying lobbs not kpf / ruck tho remember he spends a shitload more time in gws fwd half than chopping out ruck for mumford and co. There are still plenty who hardley rate his ruckwork ,inc his own team who still bring in dawson simpson when mummys not playing
Also your using a bit of revisionism with Apeness there ,while obviously no doubt he can play fwd he was as much ruckman as fwd coming through the juniors . Either way hes no more a fwd than lobb

If you take a look back at the phantom drafts from that time, you'll see that the guys like Knightmare etc rated Apeness as more a KPF and Lobb as more a ruckman. That's why we took Apeness over Lobb imo.

Your arguing semantics either way ,I mean as has been pointed out you included membrey and Scisilly on that list of "kpfs " ffs but lobbs not cause he spends prob 5 min per quarter doing ruckwork ?? ..... i simply commented if old mate was calling apeness a fwd and you listed all those "kpfs" we missed then Lobb should be included on that list...

Probably should add Morabito to the list of kpfs we tried. Same height/build and according to Pav, as talented as Pav (or words to that effect). His injuries stuffed up our KPF succession plans imho, coupled with bad timing re: entry of GC and GWS who hoovered up tall talent and put most clubs under drafting duress.

As I already explained apeness was considered a KPF by draftees. Lobb wasn't.

I'm not normally a fan of The Footy Show but they just did a hilarious piss-take of Ross

Lobb was generally considered a ruck prospect rather than a KPF.

If only we rated Greg Harding's opinion (September 2013)...

"He can kick really nicely, he takes contested marks, but physically he is really still a real baby, because the kid has no real footy development over the last five or six years. He has not done one preseason," Harding said.

"But in two or three pre-seasons, he is going to be an absolute beast of an athlete. At 205cm he could be one of best athletes going around and he is a wonderful kid.

"So, if there's a kid with more upside (in this year's draft) I'd be really surprised."

"His ability to take contested marks is fantastic. In time, at AFL level, he will be a really, really good contested mark."

...

Given his lack of previous football experience, Lobb's emergence has staggered talent-watchers, who have flocked to Perth to gauge his performance in the past two months.

Lobb's endurance is elite for a tall, having clocked 3km in less than 11 minutes.

Another bad loss during a rebuild since we're meant to be contenders also apparently -

"Ross Lyon approached Collingwood for Buckey's position"

Aaaaand media making up shit again. I wonder why it took half an hour after a loss for this to be breaking news and not after last weeks win - or during Collingwood's slump.

This y have been mentioned in an earlier post. Alleged on 6PR that Lyon thru a third party had made a subtle enquiry about taking over from Buckley.
Lyon denied he had been approached by Colon Wood but no-one had asked him if his manager had made the approach?

Is he really the right person to take us forward?
