Round 1 Teams

The business end of the season? Seriously? That is 6 months away. If Silvagni hasn't been given any opportunities by then, feel free to start freaking out over his non-selection. Until then? Take it easy.

What is the match committee supposed to do? No worries, lets just give the 24 game veteran, who hasn't completed anywhere near the workload required, a start in round 1 because when the finals start he'll be important...oh and ummm potential...

Silvagni has been injured. As such he hasn't been able to press his claim for a KPD spot; neither has Grover for that matter. Neither of them have been able to get the required amount of work done on the track either, whereas Dawson has. Again, Silvagni's not in the class of McPharlin, Pavlich or Sandilands. He is not an automatic selection. He needed to prove himself to Lyon, he hasn't been able to do that.

If he's as good as we all think he is, then it won't be long before he's back in the best 22.

Agreed!! :thumbsu:

I'm merely emphasizing a point (business end of the season) pratty.
Of course he's not the class of sandi and pav the guys only played less than forty games. And your right ,we won't have to wait long.

Not flash jumping Jack out of opener
Jack Anthony's bid to re-establish himself as a power forward has been stalled by a calf strain that has ruled him out of Fremantle's team to play Geelong at Patersons Stadium tomorrow night. Anthony, who kicked two goals in Fremantle's last NAB Cup match against Hawthorn and looked set to play in the season opener, missed the club's open training session on Tuesday.

The pies hawks game is really highlighting the importance of selecting match fit players. I'd expect our game against the cats to be just as breathless if we match them for fitness.

Really surprised Collingwood still persist with playing only one genuine ruck(jolly). If sandi can stay on the oval and Clarke continues on his rapid improvement ,we are going to have a massive advantage over teams at the stoppages.

the pies don't seem to have a decent backup option since brown retired. wood isn't up to AFL level.

we're not the only team with the advantage of two decent rucks: north, weagles, carlton, dees off the top of my head, but yeah, that's an advantage if we can make the most of the stoppages. lyon may turn out to be a great recruit, but stone's addition in tandem will be just as important.
