Just on a side note. I think sometimes fans can confuse wanting a player getting dropped to the magoos to work on deficiencies or pointing out weaknesses that happened, doesnt mean we want them to get the sack from the club.[/quote]

Exactly right! Some good players will find themselves at Coburg at some stage this year. In my honest opinion, what a great problem it is to have the dilemma of trying to fit everyone in to a side of 22!

Congrats guys your mob simply wanted it more. Cotchin is all class, Deledios skills are obviously sublime but the player who really raised my opinion of him was Jake Batchelor, he was brilliant when he was down back.
Hopefully the Blues can exact some revenge later in the year (I'm assuming we'll play again) but for the time being, enjoy it! :thumbsu:

In terms of the ins and outs:

Knights seems to be the forgotten man ATM (we've all talked Vlastuin, Petterd, Grimes)

IIRC he went well at coburg recently, another good performance and I'd go.

Out: Nahas
In: Knights (to be sub)

On the disallowed J8 goal. Can anyone clue me in? My understanding was that the quarter only finishes when the whistle is blown, not when the siren sounds (which would mean it was a goal). Am I wrong????

Yes you are wrong.... the quarter ends at the point an umpire hears the siren, not when the whistle is blown. Sorry if this has already been addressed, I'm a few pages behind!

If Grimes is fully fit I'd bring him in for Griff, but to be honest I'd love to see Griff get another run.

Vlastuin for Nahas the only other change. I'd love to see him play a lot of footy this year. He's born for it and could be that vital final piece, particularly if Axel doesn't come up. I almost hate to say it but we're on the cusp of assembling a frightening midfield.

I genuinely like the prospect of what knights brings to the table. But until he shows signs of the form were all hopeful for, he will be considered depth.

His pre season form was underwhelming at best.

Not for this week, just the changes that would give us best 22
I'd be playing Ellis more often than not. Sure, give him some spells through-out the year to freshen up, but I think replacing him in the 22 with a guy recruited for depth more than anything else would hurt us in the longer term. Besides, while last night he had a shocker, he's shown he's going to be a player.

With this new-found depth, I wouldn't be surprised to see a rotation policy of sorts, where most players get a bit of a spell through-out the year to freshen the body up. We now have enough quality players up our sleeve to be able to do this :thumbsu:

Nahhhh mate, We have decided we will make it 10 in a row - Sorry

Credit where it's due, guys! Your boys put in a stellar effort last night.

Play clearance football like that and you'll be knocking off some of the flag favourites consistently.
This is where most teams seem to underestimate Richmond - Midfield depth whilst not the finished product yet will be well on the way in the next 1-2 years

1st Tier - Delidio , Cotchin , Martin , Foley , Tuck
2nd Tier - Ellis , Conca , Vlastuin , Helbig , Arnot ,McIntosh
The last 3 players are still young but with support and development will be high expectations when they come in.

With Special appearances from Houli , Grigg , Nahas , S.Edwards , Newman

Pettard selection was based on pre season form, not his past

you are correct were you at the game i was and it was right in front of me to me it was kicked just on the siren so should have counted

Out Ellis In Grimes

That is my only change, barring exceptional performance by either Vlad or Petterd in the VFL OR Foley being deemed fit.

Considering the Saints Round 1 line-up we'll need 4 KPD.
N. Riewoldt - Rance
R. Stanley - Griffiths
B. Maister - Chaplin
T. Lee - Grimes
S. Milne - Morris
A. Saad - Houli
T. Milera - Batch

We could always keep Ellis by swapping out Griffo and Grimes and making Batch a KPD, but Batch was far too good last night that the match committee would screw anything up.
Furthermore, Grimes will do 20x the job Ellis does in defence be it on a small or tall.

If either one of Petterd or Vlad have an exceptional performance in the VFL, then straight swap for Nahas into sub position. Both can be usable as subs. If Foley is fit, he takes precedence no matter what and comes straight onto the field, with either King or Grigg taking the vest.

I was up in the southern stand any higher i would have been touching the roof...
Had a clear view of Reiwodlt turning left and kicking the ball a 1/2 second after the siren went...i was hoping like reiwoldt...umpire wouldnt have it unfortunately..
3 posters and a near goal...so close...sums up our whole night
