collingwood must be baffled at their loss considering they had all the learnings from this match

Christ it's funny after hearing all week how the Mighty Collingwood team would've protected that game to only 5 days later coughing up 4 goal lead with 5 minutes left.

It's been really interesting all round. Yes the last quarter against was poor and not good enough, but there were some amazing signs for the future almost everywhere on the ground. If we were going for premiership this year, then throwing away that win would have been very alarming. For a side looking at competing a few years down the line still early days into our rise up the ladder, there were so many positive signs for the vast majority of the game, especially given we were missing Blanck, Sicily, Lewis, and Scrimshaw as that is supposed to be our weakest area, key position strength. And on top of the improvement from what happened last year in the same game. How many years are North Melbourne into a rebuild? Are they shattered about throwing one away against a top 4 competitor at home, or still languishing at the bottom of the ladder and finding positives in 6-7 goal losses when they occur? I'm happy to take what Barrett called an 'utter embarrassment' as sign of real progress, that a loss against Port away that we should have won hurts so much, in that we are in the contest again quicker than most thought.

Nothing better to heal the scars than a win. Now just a distant memory. Might be one of the most important losses we'll have, but with that said maybe we can burn this thread never to be opened about again.
