Brownlow Medallist
Well, I'm really excited this week that the WAFL is back - I've had to spend the last 2 weekends in the garden! Bit of a strange round this one with the Sunday game (looking very wet....) between Claremont and Swans.
Subi v East Freo - looks a bit of a yawn this one but we get to see a host of AFL players for the Sharks against the well oiled machine that is Subi. Veterans McManus and Carr on one hand and Chick and Read on the other. Then there is the younger guys on AFL lists and ones looking to be picked up like Dennis-Lane, Cockie, Anthony to show their wares.
Peel v Souths - at the big country oval this could be an interesting match. Souths have been a bit patchy in the last couple after putting it all together 3 rounds ago and looking a very good running side against Swans. You would think Peel aren't much show, without Schofield and Ebert in particular. Still plenty of AFL players in the Bulldogs ranks and they lose Murphy but regain Graham.
Perth v East Perth - should be a comfortable win to Perth, who are travelling as good as they have for the past 28 years. Butler out shouldn't be too significant because he wasn't playing much whilst they were winning early and they had 3 of the best 5 players named in the state game. Siekerka's having a great year, along with chooka Zucconi and K-T. Scott Selwood may be back for this one and Sullivan is developing in the ruck and providing contest. East Perth will have to play out of their skins in this one, but they do like beating the demons.
Claremont v Swans - should be a very even contest with 2 pretty young sides going around. Davis staying in the Eagles leaves a bit of a void at half back, but hopefully Hinkley can fill this. Richardson up forward needs to be accounted for and Mackenzie rebounding out of defence could be good to see. Thomson will probably be given another tagging role on Lange after he did it successfully first time around. Garlett needs to light up the wings for Swans and Big Red should be at FF? with Notte playing the half forward role. These last 2, with Wilkes out, are probably the hardest for the tiges to match up, although Mackenzie will possibly go to Notte. Ruck in the ruck should be hard to match up on (after Naita our rucks are a little average, shall I say) unless we play Ames in the centre. Then there may be AJ to match up on, if he's back this week? He could be the critical part to the equation for Claremont in this match because I don't see a lot of difference in experience for the 2 teams.
