Yeah got you. I think Seaby is just a more capable, older version of Wood to be honest. He's an alright ruckman as 1st ruck only, so he wouldn't really fit into the side either unless Jolly was injured. I'm not sure he'd be doing much more than playing in the VFL with a fit Jolly running around. We picked up Wood when he was 19 or 20 y/o too expecting him to develop, which unfortunately he's taking/wasting his time doing. Seaby would be a better option playing these last 9 games for us, but I'm not sure we'd get much use out of him other than that.

I guess that was my point really though. We need someone who is able to cover when our number one ruck is out. Now obviously that someone is only going to be 'capable' but that's what we need. In case, heaven forbid Jolly is out in the finals. So my call was made purely on that (although I think I was advocating getting him before he actually left WCE) so as a back up / replacement to Fraser (pre-Jolly obviously)

True, well hopefully Wood continues to develop and/or Ceglar and Witts come through quickly. The worst thing we probably could do however is rush their progress. If Wood goes down/gets dropped/delisted it could potentially ruin Ceglar/Witts' careers like with what happened to Fraser.

I have mentioned Seaby's name as someone we should have looked to recruit for years and been meet with 'lolz you serz GTFO' type responses. I think he has shown in every game he has been the number one ruck (both for Sydney and WCE) that he is very capable, he just sucks as a back up ruck.

Seaby was in shocking form at the time you were calling for him to get drafted so the responses were quite adequate. Seaby is 27 while Wood is 24, maybe in 3 years time you'll have the bragging rights.

I have totally hi-jacked the thread (sorry guys) but at the time he was shocking form playing second fiddle to Cox but had clearly shown when played as the number one ruck he could do the job. It wasn't his fault he was behind one of the best rucks of the modern era and he is by no means a superstar (he is still behind mumford now and would be behind Jolly) my point is, I said when used as a number one ruck he was good and on every single occasion he has played that way he has been. I don't know how you could argue that.

Very true, When Mumford has been out and Seaby taked the number 1 Rucking role at the swans, he has been bloody brilliant. Its when Mumford comes back and they try to play the both of them, for some reason, it just doesnt work and Seabu looks really slow out there and begins to look like a hack...no idea why, it just happens.
