I remember saying early days with sincs maybe a year or two in how few weaknesses he had and thinking what his cieling could be. Maxy Hall is the same. I’d be giving him some more midfield time.

Like in all seriousness what are his weaknesses, ball winning ?

He’s a beautiful kick, strong m smart.

Also just reminds of those guys who step up in big finals games.
average overhead and not particularly quick for a small forward? not sure about these though

As a side note - really enjoyed Will Schofield on commentary yesterday, thought he and Pav were insightful and offered much more than the usual cliches, without making the coverage about them, or being too parochial.
I totally agree. I was thinking during their commentary these two should teach Ricciuto what unbiased commentary & actually calling the game is all about.

Can anyone explain the enigma that is Jack Steele? He still has class. See that mark he took off balance on the boundary? 22 possessions, 82% TOG. Not bad.

Oh, and what did you think of Henry’s game?

I stand by Steele as a good forward option. Beautiful set shot and can take a grab.

Thought Henry did exactly what we need from him and hopefully can grow from there. Although the things he did last year Max Hall has taken the mantle of. But great to have options forward of the ball.

I love him, had a fantastic year.

Henry was actually better than the junk he has been dishing up in the reserves.
I think he's just one of those players - you run him around with the plodders and you waste him, run him around with the thoroughbreds and you get to see the best of him.......

You don't use a racehorse to plough a field.......

Would make a lot of sense if he was just told to get out there and get miles into the legs in the VFL.....

I actually suggested him at Centre-half forward back in my saintsational days. (yawn) ..But yes, a decent kick. A Patrick Dangerfield up forward? Coops has been unwhelming if we are honest. Still like him. We do need something.

Higgins biggest issue is his kicking terrible ball drop, we need him to nail those goals especially when he's only 30 meters out.

Also not enough forward pressure from him either, i would of rather Butler stay on & Higgo off at least Butts has speed & can run his opponent around
I think he tries Higgo but the pressure doesn’t come natural to him
That aside he just has to kick those goals they are clutch moments dead in front I feel confident when he’s tucked in a boundary …Owens too though ….it just zaps the life out of the team constant misses

Excellent call was actually refreshing commentary not cliched dribble or just 1 sided nonsense kudos to both

I'd love to see Steele have a massive pre season in the gym building strength and power so he can become a burst midfielder/half forward. He's a good overhead grab and kick for goal. Let's not worry about him running out the entire game in the midfield - his career took a turn for the worse when he slimmed down.

Jack Steele is too slow to be a burst midfielder. He is a more skilled version of Michito but not as Athletic. I would play him 50/50 on ball fwd. He takes a good grab and knows how to compete at ground level.
Young players need games of experience so that when we have a plus two around stoppage, they will learn to run with ball to take advantage of the extra number rather than kicking to their plus two in more open space allowing a greater chance of a turnover.....causing the chance for the opp to spread into open space causing a slingshot score on goal.
Thsts why we lost also lost on shot equity basis. Sure we won clearances but lost retention inside 50. As they have two really good defenders who know how to nullify our forwards in the contest bring it to ground for their plus 2 then away they go.
We will get there just takes time. Hall is a beauty and you can see him assessing each disposal, he will get quicker in decision making and team mates will have the confidence to use him more when they have played 50 or so games together..al la Sincs.
No doubt we are rising in ability just takes time to build like what you could see what we are doing similar to the Hawks of 4 years ago....Tarau...an athlete profile like Weddle. Hall like a Dylan Moore Garcia a left footed Newcombe yadda yadda...Keep injecting high end talent from the draft and acquiring GOF and get King Dougs and Pou back into the side and sort out the in game style of play (how to play with plus 2 at stoppage) and we start looking a very competitive team.
The drop off comes quick look at Carlton but the turnaround can come quick and almost from nowhere.... Hawks Crows.

How often have us Saints supporters said we are building lets wait for next year. Get everyone on the park and we will be fun to watch....again

They were really good. Highlighted the plus 2 early and thsts how it played out. Mark Ricutto represents all that I hate about SA football. Over rate their own players and are very smuggly and ignorantly one sided in their views and commentary. He adds nothing to the broadcast.....but gees he could football

Pav is a Freo legend and doesn't barrack. A lot better than Healy and Lewis when we played Melbourne.

Yep Agree with Higgins ball drop-just kicked it straight through the middle ofthe point post -but bench him and keep butler on -kidding- Butler gave away a 50 and a goal-then dropped 2 chest marks he should have taken that is a never for me

Coops is Brilliant with the ball in hand -just needs to get more of it

Should have won, didn’t, but found out a lot about a lot of players.

Hall is incredible, a forwardline Sincs. Just so clean.

Tauru prolific.

Garcia took another step, as did Keeler to an extent.

Disappointed but pleased with their efforts after some horror showings in last 2 months.
Keelor beautiful set shot for goal-reminds me of Paddy Ryders techinque -if he he can get get 4/5 shots on goal a week ........
