Brownlow Medallist
There are some very big games this weekend, with every one having an impact in the race for the top 4. Hopefully Swans don't give the old ticker a bit of a stall again!
South Freo v Perth - Friday night, cold, wet and windy in the harbour and Perth, you feel, may be playing for their season. Lost Ross Young for most of the last 8 games and .2 or something ahead of West Perth. They've dropped clutch matches against beatable opposition (EP and Swans) and now are fighting to stay in the 4. A lot for both of these teams will depend on the availability of AFL players. We'll see if Phillips can continue his terrific form and Dell'Olio back up a good debut. On the other hand some of Perth's players need to get some form and confidence back and help out Siekerka, K-T, Sullivan and Selwood.
Peel v Subi - Now, I don't expect the 150 point thrashing that occurred at Kalgoorlie, but I would expect Subi to win comfortably. Peel are only 2 points out of the 4 so they have plenty to play for in this match and we'll see if they can continue their reasonable form and if Ballantyne continues on his merry way.
East Freo v WP - Should be a cracking match with the Sharks playing one of the better games last weekend and if they go into this match with a settled team they will be the better for that. Liam Anthony continues to impress and it's highly doubtful they will have Kennedy this week. However, if conditions are wet, especially at Shark park, the Falcons may be too top heavy and the size of Bradley, Campbell and LeCras could be negated? Still, it should be a cracking match.
Last but not least Swans v EP. Swans need to get some players back to shore up their injury ravaged list, with retired players having to suit up for the reserves team and even colts pulled up to ressies. If Ames, Robinson, Spaanderman or Garlett are back, not all just a couple, I will feel a little more confident in this one. EP have some good younger players like Sweet, Sampey and Oliver and with Agostino back a few weeks now they are a danger side. Hopefully the Swans will get over the line by more than their normal -20 point margin.
Hope we get a great round of football this weekend and Swans move a step closer to finals football.
