Well that was a horrid game! Credit to the Pies but we were very poor. Never really at any stage controlled the game and early and late glitches cost us dearly. It's a team game so all the boys will take ownership of the situation for next week. Better to have a 50% output game now than in finals.

Ball showed some real composure in the end to get them over the line. Thought we missed Langers and Woody in the clinches. We've been a bit uninspiring from last week's fade-out right up to midway through the second quarter today. In the end the Pies had more hunger for this one. We won't win the flag playing like this so let's hope we fire up and time our run into finals now.

Can't help but think sometimes we play better with less Hawthorn-listers in there.

Hartung was busy all day, really works hard to link up the play and break the lines. Demands the ball too. Faded a little late but his potential will be supreme after a couple of pre-seasons.

TOB was dropping marks early that he was clunking two seasons ago. To his credit he started finding them later but he still feels like he's stuck in third gear most of the game. His partner-in-crime Sicily is yet to rediscover the blistering form he showed in the Foxtel Cup.

Grimmers is cooked. Looked like he wss half arsed all day. Missed some goals that he should be kicking considering he does stuff all else.
Hartung was busy and wants the ball in his hands. You can never have enough players who demand the ball.
Ceglar battled back after being manhandled early.
Cheney is a rock in defence.
Hallahan was a little disappointing
Sicily quiet all day except for some scragging

Brand continues to show promise. Just needs to out on a few more kgs

Disappointing loss after hitting the lead and having momentum.

The weather was nice and the ground generally in good nick.

Missed the first quarter with car problems and I'm coming dinner now so will add my thoughts later. Reckon Grundy was the best ruckman on the ground for his work around the ground but Ceglar kicked two vital goals and was a handful up forward. Lowden did little and Grimley was mindblowingly inconsistent with his attack on football. Hartung was very good but colonels had our measure in midfield for most of the game.
