Round 18 v Collingwood Pre-game discussion thread

I don't think Lance is due back jus yet... still a few weeks away I think?
I'd expect to see him before then BG.

With 5 games to go he needs to test the knee out IMO.
He is listed as 1-2 weeks, and I would think they would want him in for at least the last 3, if not 4 games, just to see if the knee will hold up and what his form is like.

Given how the Dees are tanking ATM, I think we will beat them in Round 22.

Given that, we must pull out all stops to win each week.

I will be very, VERY upset if we don't win any of the next 4 games, only to beat the Dees in round 22.
Lose - lose situation.

Lets start by upsetting the Pies cart this week, followed a couple of weeks later by ending the Dons season.:thumbsu:

Whitnall to the backline?
And play Waite up forward?

Yep. I'd play O'Hailpin or Whitnall on Rocca and probably Thornton on Cloke.
If O'Hailpin gets Rocca, then Whitnall as loose man in defence and then gets Rocca when Ackland needs relief in the ruck.

Re: Blues Vs Pies

I am worried that the Pies will be ultra motivated after being smashed by Brisbane and dont see us getting the points.....hope I am wrong though.

Re: Blues Vs Pies

I'm liking you more and more each week... can you please bring your old self back? ;):p

I think that we can get up over either Collingwood or Essendon and one other.

high hopes i know.

Don't get used to it, peanut.

How's that?

I forgot about Walks! How bad am I!!

Lance Whitnall has lost 6 kgs since he has been out injured.

In the Sunday Herald Sun today, Swann said that Lance was gone had he not changed his attitude. Very interesting.

I would like to think that this quote from Swann was not just a warning to Lance, but to every player on our list that no player can assume they are safe. There have been some players retained on our list who haven't necessarily been worthy of a place on an AFL list, but have been retained due to how poor our list has been in recent years. With some quality young players coming through, with a couple more being added in this year's draft, some of our experienced players must be on notice that they cannot take their place on our list for granted.

Sounds pretty good to me.
And Fevs problem opponent, Clement, is still a week or so away isn't he?

Clement played for Willy today. So given how poor we were this round, he'll probably come in. He's gotta be very underdone after so long out, though, so I doubt we'd play him on Fev.

is kennedy a chance of return?. would be good is he came back to give us another target up forward so we could leave waite on cloke, whitnall on rocca and thornton loose or on a small forward.......that reminds me didak and davis should tear us a new one this week

surely walks should just go get a clean out of the shoulder if its troubling him more than once. whats the point of continuing this season? hopefully its not a chronic problem and im wrong

Not a chronic problem. But the media had him going for surgery last week........hasn't happened yet. If he trains on Wednesday expect him to come in.

I would be quite happy for the club to wrap him up for the year and elevate Jacobs, but it hasn't happened yet.

Im by no means an optimist but i honestly think we'll win this. Im tipping us. Hopefully Ratts will get the boys pumped up beforehand against our arch enemies. Want to win so bad, would love to shut up all the talk about tanking

Out: Wiggins, Bannister
In : Grigg, Bentick (depending how he played in the reserves)

Obviously changes a bit depending on Kouta's injury and if Lance can return

Did you see the game mate?

Jordan Russell had a very good game on Saturday.

I wouldn't say that he had a very good game at all.

He was just OK, keeps showing signs to suggest that he will make it and that we should persist with him.

Saying he had a very good game is a bit of a stretch.

Unless I am mistaken, Russell had the run with role on Luke Ball. Ball had very little impact on the game, so I would suggest that Russell did everything asked of him by the coaching staff. Against teams like St Kilda, there will be a number of our players given negative roles on opposition midfielders. If they do the job, as Russell did, we can't ask anymore of them.

You are. That was Scotland. Russell was on baker mostly.

Baker had 27 and kicked a goal, while Simmo had 26, so i don't think he was "shown up" as such

Injury list just updated on CFC.com

Andrew Walker - Shoulder, test
Lance Whitnall - Knee, test
Adam Hartlett - Hamstring, 1-2 weeks
Joe Anderson - Hamstring, 2-3 weeks
Josh Kennedy - Hamstring, 2-3 weeks
Kouta - hip, To be assessed
Wiggo - Hammy, TBA
Edwards - ankle, TBA
Cameron Cloke, Aisake O'hAilpin, Nick Stevens - Season

Whitnall may come in.
So much for Walker going in for surgery (nice scoop Hutchy :o)
Hopefully Harts and Josh can get back for a couple of senior games at the end of the season.

No word on Edwards yet.

simmo got hammered most times he got it tho. baker was right with him, limited his effectiveness
