Kicked over 100 points again.
Gulden, Warner and Mcdonald had very good games again
Franklin was more than handy.
Plentyy to work on and improve some of the kick ins were really bad and gave Adelaide a lot of chances they couldn't convert
Midfield for a bit couldnt win the ball at all in the middle.
Hickey Hickey!

But from where we have come from what a start to 2021 2-0 nobody would of predicted that.

Buddy returned to kick 3 goals, got through the game fine
Kids Gulden, Campbell, Warner shined again
Nice healthy spread of goal kickers
Ball movement precise
100 points before 3QT again

Took the foot off the gas in the last quarter, but the game over realistically by 3QT

Umpires can GAGF

2 and 0 baby!

Warner burst of speed is what we need

jmac is easily best 22

blakey the most overrated player on the list atm

be worried about rampe next week

Swap hewett amd mills already

Said it in the Match thread but we missed Allir today.
Blakey had a bad game but was good last week.
Rampe whats happened?

Tale of two halves really.

Young guns like McCartin, Dawson, Gulden, Campbell, McDonald, McInerney and Florent were instrumental in setting up the unassailable lead in the first half.

Second half was just drab really. Making opportunities out of nothing, relying on Adelaide failing to do much damage on the scoreboard, etc.

But honestly if you had said pre-season that "Swans will play only one good half of footy, win by 33 points, kick a score of 120+ points, and it would be led by a bunch of under 23s" I would've laughed you out of the building. So cannot complain at all.

Worried about next week though. We really missed Rowbottom's smarts and his deft touch on the inside. Not to mention we lacked a speedy mid who could shut down an opposition clearance with a tackle. If we fail to bring these things next week, against what I rate as the best midfield in the comp, I think we will be in trouble.

But what a ******* start to the year! Now I've got some business to attend to...

Kennedy was clanger city today, but still our most prolific ball winner in the middle. He’s still valuable, but too old to be #1, and today aside from Parker he had no support.

missing rowbottom, and Mills and Florent were ordinary. Agree with Punts that Hewett should’ve been moved back in.

But JPK put a shift in - nowhere near our worst in the middle.

Hewett should be in the centre, but not at the expense of Mills.

It felt like our kids made most of the play while our veterans looked a bit patchy. I'm OK with that because if we put it all together in one game it'll be scary good.

Playing a fantastic brand of attacking footy.

Backline disorganised for big chunks and they'll need to work on that.

Hickey is a great signing for us but we need our mids to get better at the clearances.

I think we'll give finals a shake.

It feels like we've gone from no forward line to one of the most dangerous in the league. Franklin, McDonald, Reid, Heeney, Papley and Wicks. That'll worry teams this year.

How would this sit with everyone. Blakey out for Rowy. Rampe out, Reid back and McLean in? Alternatively. keep Reid forward, move Franklin to the wing and swing Mills back.

Bit knee jerk and most definitely premature to drop Rampe I would’ve thought.

Blakey could do with a spell but Rampe? Seriously, he's one of our best players. Might have had a bad game but there's no way in hell he's getting dropped.

Kennedy and Rampe are a concern. Kennedy is still getting plenty of the ball, but he is so slow, gets caught much more easily than he used to and he isn't as good at breaking the tackle like he used to be. His kicking, well the less said about that the better. Still though, he is a battering ram and does have his uses, but in an ideal world we shouldn't need him anymore.
