im a little bit torn this week. Would ideally like to get papley in, but not stressed if I cant. Menadue + McCarthy are rather decent as rookies.

Do I stick with gaff as my pod in the midfield, and hope he improves on his 87?. He was my consistency pick, I had gray before, but backed gaff in to average more, even if his scope to get the bigger scores isn't as high.

33 touches, but lots of handball receives which aren't great for fantasy.

My other option:

Martin to Dahlhaus
Salem to Sheridan

Stick with Gaff and Dusty don't dump them after one performance, they're both guns.

Leuenberger>Smith
Greene>DeGoey
Remaining Salary: $34,000

De Goey will spend time in the midfield as Swan is out for an extended period of time. Leuenberger is you get what you pay for. A straight swap to Zac Smith from Geelong

I've sidewaysed the shit out of my trades at this stage.

Boyd > Johannisen
Hannebery > Zaharakis

Netted me 280k odd for future spending stupidity. Watch me regret it down the track.

Hannebery has mild concussion, so his scores will be below par for 2-3 weeks. I will look at him after that. He is a gun

Yeah I actually have him back in at this stage to do Stef>NicNat. End of the week will probably be 2 of those 3 trades though. Banking money and going all out sideways. Taking more risks in this game this year. Boyd > JJ is probably the dumbest of the 3 but I think it's the most likely too. Love JJ at the moment.

The only trades that should be made are trades to get cash cows at this stage.

Trade guns now and watch them ton up this week.
I'm sorry but I don't agree at this stage.

I have traded Stef to Hickey. Stef has gone down $20k and Hickey up $20k and both will continue to go that way. I think Hickey will average 90 odd over the next 4-5 weeks and Stef prob 110 so that trade will cost me 10 points per week but make me probably $150K.
Now that trade allows me to bring in Sheridan for Cowan and put Harwood on the bench. That trade will make me probably $100K (what Sheridan goes up) and at least 30 points per week.

So Trading out a gun gets me $250K and 10 points a week!!!

I wouldn't trade D.Martin he is pretty reliable, despite his low round 1 score. I think it'll be a waste of a trade.

Martin did this last year, he has a higher ceiling so will go very big, yet have the occasional poor game. Dont get suckered into the these round 1 scores, especially when some of the scores are due to massive blow out games. Dustin is a keeper, look at trading the middle price and rookies to ensure you have the safer consistent option there as that will make you the money.

I see your logic but you are assuming all your variable assumptions there will occur.

Last week you had Stef in your team at a high price because you believed in the variable assumption that he would score 120+ based on his price. This week after seeing scores etc you now change your variable assumptions based on 1 weeks performance. This is likely to change again.

What if (1) Stef scores 120 this week, (2) Hickey has a schocker and scores 50, (3) Sheridan injures himself after scoring 10 and (4) Harwood has a gun game and scores 90?

All could happen. I just think we all put so much effort into which guns we should start with this year its a shame to jump off after one round.

Cash cows are the one definate.

But thats the beauty of this game, everyone has their own strategies and methods of playing!

Agreed.

Chatting to a Bulldogs player recently and he said to get JJ in your fantasy teams.

Trading steele to papley and robinson to 1 of Steven, Dangerfield, Ablett, Lewis, Priddis (can afford anyone).

Any recommendations?

Priddis is probably a good POD, I'm a bit annoyed at myself for not even considering him to start with.

Yup, see your point.

For me the rucks and defenders were always the place I was willing to throw some sideways trading in and also Sheridan and Hickey were on my radar pre-season and both spent time in my planning teams.

Also don't see Stef going 100+ against Goldy, where as Hickey has the Bulldogs and should dominate the taps, although probably won't be as many stoppages as there were against Port.

J.Bartel > T.Sheridan and M.Barlow>A.Hall. This leaves me with 196k for next week and I don't have too many other issues. Thoughts?

Robbo -> papley. Forwards are strong so happy to downgrade to a rook.

Will upgrade my DEF or MID. I'm thinking:

1. Caff -> Danger
2. Caff -> Parker (52k cheaper, plays the blues)
or
3. Harwood/Brown -> Johannisen

Thoughts? I'm starting 3 rooks in MIDs (Mills, Caff, Hewett) so am thinking to strengthen that up over the DEF, where I'm starting only 2 rooks (Adams and Dea)

Thinking you might be onto something there.
