The only trades that should be made are trades to get cash cows at this stage.

Trade guns now and watch them ton up this week.

I'm sorry but I don't agree at this stage.

I have traded Stef to Hickey. Stef has gone down $20k and Hickey up $20k and both will continue to go that way. I think Hickey will average 90 odd over the next 4-5 weeks and Stef prob 110 so that trade will cost me 10 points per week but make me probably $150K.
Now that trade allows me to bring in Sheridan for Cowan and put Harwood on the bench. That trade will make me probably $100K (what Sheridan goes up) and at least 30 points per week.

So Trading out a gun gets me $250K and 10 points a week!!!

Yeah I've changed my mind on this. For the other games with limited trades it matters to back your guns and only make corrective rookie trades early. Here, I think you can afford to play a bit looser with that rule.

With that said, I think Stef to Hickey is an awful trade. Need to see Hickey against a decent ruckman to get an idea of his scoring potential. I like Sheridan in though.

Anyone able to help? Racking my brains over my second trade. Already done Simpkin -> Paps, but no clue for the second:

KK to JJ. Kings to Jacks and you can thank me later.

Cheers! Was hesitant to trade him out as he was good last year after I got rid, but JJ should be good, and that gives me 100k in the bank to play around with next week.

Was going to say the same thing thing re" getting JJ in.

Also had thought of Selwood to Ablett? Selwood doesn't usually score well to the last half of the season.

If Ablett keeps up at this rate I'll have to get him in. I've gambled the last two seasons not starting with him, last season it paid off this season remains to be seen.

Biggest issue in your team i think is toby greene, i'd trade him for Sam Gray

Hickey actually doesn't have a bad record when playing as the sole ruckman, even against other good rucks. He was also used fwd alot last year and if you take out his games when Holmes or Longer played he is averaging up around 80!!!

He was high on my list all preseason but just couldn't do it, so when he scored like that and Stef went so bad, it was a no brainer for me.

Yeah me too, for me it was choose two of Danger, Parker and Ablett.

Not too upset currently but I think i will go M.Crouch to GAJ next week.

Could get rid of Robbo and get Danger.
Simpkin -> Paps

But then I've got Berger in R2...with $50k leftover after above trades.

Should I maybe go for a cheaper replacement for Robo? Then Bank some money for ridding myself of the R2 parasite?

I know it's only the first round but just regretting the bergs big time. Maybe I can afford to carry him for a while? Any ideas appreciated.

Hoping Frost does a little better against Essendon.

Problem is there isn't much better cheaper options to replace Robbo. I've had a look at forward under 489k and there isn't a lot of good choices that you don't already have. You could go all the way down to Papley but that's a very big downgrade. He is good though.

Maybe go Robbo out, then move Simpkin in to the forward line, and trade in a cheap mid, like Davis or Dunkley which would give you the cash to upgrade to Goldy. (Just)

Or go
Robinson > Papley
Berger > Goldy/Nic Nat/whoever you want

I'm holding Berger for another week to see how he goes, but if you want to ditch him then Hickey isn't a bad option. BE of 15, projected on Fantasy Coach to score 68 and jump another $24k; I can see him scoring higher than 68 against the Bullies - could be good for a jump of $30-40k. Allows you to sideways Robbo to a high-end midpriced mid or forward.

Where did you find breakevens?

I like this approach ... until the forward and defence lines sort themselves out you might as well forget structure and get premo mids and rucks ... you know your going to want goldy, martin, nic nac, danger, ablett, pendles, etc.

Here's an option for you to maximise cash generation.

- Out: Simpkin & a Ruck
- In: Papley and other rook ( Dunkley, Ellis, Marchbank, Cameron )
- Utilise DPP to your advantage
- Plop Robbo on the bench for a week

Papley vs. Carlton will cover Robbo's points and the rook you bring in can match or better Simpkin.
