The Hawks resume after their final bye of the season with a game away from home to 14th-placed Frankston. The Hawks currently sit eighth on percentage from Richmond as we get to the pointy end of the VFL season. The Hawks sit one game behind four teams, ranging from fourth (Sydney) down to seventh (the Suns). If some of the teams ahead of the Hawks lose and the Hawks win, then the Hawks could jump up the ladder, with the Hawks' percentage of 118.1% higher than the Suns (103.2%) and Collingwood (117.5%).

The Hawks shouldn't take Frankston lightly, with the Dolphins a decent team especially on their home track. The Dolphins are also coming off a bye, and last time they played, they lost by 44 points to Sydney (in Sydney). But they did claim the scalp of the Cats at Frankston City Oval at the start of July, while they also put cellar-dwellers Northern Bullants to the sword three weeks ago (13.13.91 to 5.9.39). While the Dolphins are no chance of playing finals this season, they could see this game as an opportunity to "shape the eight".

For their part, the Hawks will hope that the bye has rejuvenated some tired bodies in the run home to the finals. After losing three on the trot from late June to early July, the Hawks have won two straight, including a squeaker against Werribee in mid-July then entering into the bye with a comfortable win over the bottom-placed Bullants. After Saturday's game, the Hawks host the Cats at Box Hill City Oval on 13 August and then finish the home & away season with another game against a finals opponent in Sydney on 20 August.

As usual, the game will be streamed live on the AFL website and via the AFL app, and 3WBC 94.1FM will provide radio broadcast of the game. Box Hill's social media team will post regular score updates to Twitter.

Teams to come.

Game is on Ch7 as well.

Box Hill socials announced Adduci is back in the line-up.

With the mounting Hawthorn injury list pulling players out of Box Hill, hopefully H.Beasley, Parsons and Mascitti are back from injury as well.

Slight wind on a beautiful day. Love living on the peninsula!! Watching football with a beer and can see the bay. Will have to become a Dolphin's fan, though the mascot was lame, the crowd was great.

Ramsden quite a player. Gets around the ground pretty well and has sticky hands. Has a weird gate, as present. Very nobbly looking knees, but that's just aesthetics.

Saunders gets around nice and zippy. Moves to the right places. Like the cut of his jib. Coach singled him out a few times in the huddle.

Callow. Big. Solid. Sticky hands. Got to a lot of the right places. Draws a lot of attention when going for the ball and frees up team mates.

Howe. Always had a soft spot for the guy, but the time has come to move him on. Brain fades. Sloppy kicks and decisions. Does some good stuff, but always seems to take a second too long to think about things and by then it's too late. Trade / de-list. Not even a depth player, imo.

Ned Long. My son wants to be as big as that guy when he's 18 (9 years time). Long is a unit and did all the right things. Tackles hard. Hope he gets a call up in the next two weeks. Would not look out of place.

Shiels. Love the guy. Did the right things. Time has come, though. Hope he stays on at Box Hill.

Tom Phillips. Didn't actually notice OR look for him. Sure he was serviceable. Mostly concerned with my faves in Ramsden, Callow, Saunders, Long.

Callow was named the Hawks best for his 19 touches, team-high eight marks and three goals. The key forward was a physical presence in the contest all afternoon and the best big man on the ground.

Hearing Callow was dominant.

Totally. Guy was a huge target.

Did some bench watching too, where he was chatting to players and pumping them up. Also lots of chatter to team mates on the field. Real team orientated player. Bumped and blocked to give others space.

Had "DAD" written on inside of wrist. Not sure what that's about. Hopefully all is well and just for motivation, or have i missed something.
