The Hawks resume after their final bye of the season with a game away from home to 14th-placed Frankston. The Hawks currently sit eighth on percentage from Richmond as we get to the pointy end of the VFL season. The Hawks sit one game behind four teams, ranging from fourth (Sydney) down to seventh (the Suns). If some of the teams ahead of the Hawks lose and the Hawks win, then the Hawks could jump up the ladder, with the Hawks' percentage of 118.1% higher than the Suns (103.2%) and Collingwood (117.5%).
The Hawks shouldn't take Frankston lightly, with the Dolphins a decent team especially on their home track. The Dolphins are also coming off a bye, and last time they played, they lost by 44 points to Sydney (in Sydney). But they did claim the scalp of the Cats at Frankston City Oval at the start of July, while they also put cellar-dwellers Northern Bullants to the sword three weeks ago (13.13.91 to 5.9.39). While the Dolphins are no chance of playing finals this season, they could see this game as an opportunity to "shape the eight".
For their part, the Hawks will hope that the bye has rejuvenated some tired bodies in the run home to the finals. After losing three on the trot from late June to early July, the Hawks have won two straight, including a squeaker against Werribee in mid-July then entering into the bye with a comfortable win over the bottom-placed Bullants. After Saturday's game, the Hawks host the Cats at Box Hill City Oval on 13 August and then finish the home & away season with another game against a finals opponent in Sydney on 20 August.
As usual, the game will be streamed live on the AFL website and via the AFL app, and 3WBC 94.1FM will provide radio broadcast of the game. Box Hill's social media team will post regular score updates to Twitter.
