Look away

Darcy Cameron had more hitouts sharked last night (9) than disposals (6). Finished with a -3 in the final term. #SuperCoach

This is right.

After everything Scoops has said about poor Jezza, who after all is just a humble bloke trying his best, the honourable thing would be to leave the score on the bench

Nathan Fillion The Rookie Abc GIF by ABC Network
Scoops once had honour, a purpose, a semi-respectable finish in sight.
That was all taken away by one cow-tipping, form-slumping pretender.
Scoops now nothing more than a broken spirit in SC purgatory, his moral compass irretrievably misplaced. A traitor to his own principles.
If I do bench someone, they'll go 150, will serve Scoops right for dancing with the Devil.
Marg bar Jezza. Prick.

As a long suffering Jezza owner, I'm effin livid that 7 goals 4 only gets you 114 points these days when any spud ruckmen or chip scabs floating in defence can fart out 150+ 😡😡

Scoops needs to bite his tongue here, but Jezza profiteted from disgraceful umpiring calls, did very little.in general play other than kick the goals and still managed to.miss sodas.
Am biased as an owner who hates him, but (honestly) seemed about right.
Darcy Cameron had hitouts sharked, made.some.bad blues and ended up sub-70, so that seemed reasonable, too.
Gawn 's big games of late have had.a.bit if scale in them, but he was still doing everything.
Contested marks, intercepts, big goals, decisive HTA.
English does so much around the ground, can't fault his scores either, even though I don't own him.
TLDR:: Didn't seem that ridiculous(?)

Fair bit of talk about these two calls.
Both seemed wrong, suppose it is fair enough they back the umpire on the one call if there's not 100% clear evidence. Looked out, though.

I get ya, but i thought what made sc scoring unique and better than fantasy was that it takes into account impact and not just stats. Jezza basically kicked half his team's score in an 8 points loss.

Yeah, that's fair. Would.say scale went against him a little.
Pies had a lot.of.the ball / play H2 and it was weighted more heavily given it was even at half-time, I guess,. Might have led to a bit of a squeeze?
But fair point 👍

Not to labour the point but compare Cameron to Curnow's game against the Eagles

Not a huge difference stats wise but one was against the best team in the league vs the worse.

Yeah, lots goes into it, though.
Curnow had three more goals, more marks, more disposals, but that only gets part of the way to explaining it.
One thing is that if you look at the AFL Fantasy scores, Blues vs Eagles was 2,971 total points.
Cats Pies was 3,315.
That meant that Curnow's scoring acts (and everybody's, to a degree) got scaled up because they still have to distribute the 3,300 toral in SC regardless. (There are differences in how acts are scored as well, I'm not accounting for that.)
The 3,300 normalizing throws up ones like that, where some blokes get scaled back because there was so much scoring in total, other blokes get an extra 20 points because the quality of the game was poor.
Think Curnow would have gone for about 150 last night with the same stat line.
But just a very suoerficial skim from me here, someone with more.of an idea might correct me.

Those stats don't show how many marks/possessions were contested, or DE. Those are the crucial things in SC.

Below are the points for marks in SC. It's possible for example Jezza had 6 uncontested marks from his own team (6 x 2 points) and Curnow had 8 contested intercepts (8 x 8 points). That won't have happened of course, but it shows where the variance can occur.
