When you look back at our threepeat era, the 3 tall + fwd ruck system is what worked best for us.
2013 - Buddy, Roughy, Gunners, Hale.
2015 - Schoey, Rough, Gunners, Hale.
Provided they're mobile, tall forwards are great to have. The issue is that it's hard enough to find 1, let alone 3 or 4. We should be happy we've got em.

What’s the best way to beat a three-headed monster? Pit it against a four-headed one!
Cholly and Gunston have had to play all season on the number 1 and 2 defenders. Now we have Dear and Lewis, both stars, in the team as well.
Adelaide will need four bona fide tall defenders. How’s that for a headache? If our mids can break even at least, surely one or more of our blokes up forward can get off the leash

Love Weds and looking forward to him coming back but this would have to be the strongest line up this year giving Sam options to plan and cover for all basis over the ground …… and for what the opposition can throw at him!

Croc played a good game last week as he has the past few, offers significantly more than BMac.
His been up and down all year. Has kicked some crunch goals. Offers little in the middle.
Different players he is more established but we have guys that can play his role. B-Mac offers something we are short on.

Croc is averaging the most tackles and tackles inside 50 of all our forwards this year. So he is still playing his roll well. Just hasn't hit the scoreboard as much this year.

I don't think I'll ever forgive Clarkson for making the AFL bring it in.
An absolutely putrid change and the sooner it's gone the better.

I'd argue we don't. The high pressure defensive high forward is one position we're not stacked in, a super hard spot to play, and one BMac just can't play (not from what we've seen). Given we've gone 4 x talls, Croc is even more critical to this lineup I would argue.

The other thing that might work in our favour is if they have to play four talls in defence, they might not all be as agile as our guys, meaning they will be vulnerable if the ball hits the ground and be susceptible to tackling pressure from our smalls. And they might be slower bringing the ball out.
