Many thanks to the Hawks for knocking off Collingwood and Sydney for squeezing past Brisbane at the Gabba (never easy).
I can't remember a year when things fell our way like that, but I am compelled to say our blokes have made their own luck by winning when they've had to.
I can't remember a year when that happened, either. 2017, maybe, until that GF
.
Looks like we'll be playing under the same kind of waterfall that drenched AO in the last Showdown.
(EDIT, 0850 today: apparently that's changed which is good; apologies for not checking the weather at 0100 last night)
I'd like to see smart slippery-weather footy:
--- tap/ mongrel/ soccer the ball forward relentlessly
--- have a small behind marking packs to crumb off-hands
--- keep the ball low and skidding forward (Berry to kick another couple of 55-60m goals?).
If we bring the same kind of hunger and 4-quarter effort as against PA we should win it, well.
I don't know what the WCE will try against us --- maybe stack their backline and make it a rolling maul slog? We'll see.
All I want is a win which sustains or increases our % (73-50 will do it) and anything over that will be a bonus.
I'd also like to see Taylor, Jones and Pedlar play strongly with real game impact.
Most importantly will be to come away with a win injury-free.
