Liked:
Stupendous 10 goals from Buddy. Probably earns the the Coleman Medal unless Josh Kennedy (WCE) can kick 6 against the Crows today.

Liked how Harry Cunningham worked into the game, a good contributor. Nic Newman on return looked good too.

Disliked:
Near the end of the 3rdQ, Nic Newman galloped forward and delivered beautifully to Gary Rohan in front. But Newman had to rush that pass, because one of our players on the inside decided not to shepherd for him. Lazy by that player, and I hope the coaches explain this to him during the week. You know who you are.

Disliked: Buddy being a total d1ck and kicking 10 goals to near certainly ruin the last leg of my exotic $2 multi that stood to land me $2k if JKK won the Coleman

After Carlton exit the season and finals come about, I don't really care for who takes out the cup, although there may be a few I'd sooner didn't.

Well done on your season to date Swans. It's been unbelievable for reasons you're more than well aware of. Now! Just four more wins. That's all.

Newman has to hold his spot. Would be for Hayward but that x factor can't be ignored. Good to have selection headaches.

Barring injury, I think the choice is between the kid and Towers. Newman is a lock. Reads the game, does the hard things, can play back, mids and forward, gets the ball and uses it well.

Towers brings little to the team beyond yeoman effort. Never gets enough of it and his decision making is a lottery. Yep we had to use him in the ruck when Sinkers and Tippo were off in Q2 and yes his mobility allowed him to pick up some trashed possies but Kreuzer went berko at the same time. Allir would be the better option.

The kid has innate footy smarts. Yes he is lightly built and yes he clearly does not get enough of it but he kicks goals but we need our smalls and mediums on the fwd line to score and balance the effort of Buddy and Reid.

If Tippett was a boxer, he'd have a glass jaw, as a footballer he has a glass body. Whether he comes up or not we cannot afford to play him.

For me I'd play Sinkers and Allir, recognising we will lose taps to the A grade rucks we might face. Our fwd line would have two primary talls in Reid and Bud, two quick mediums in Haywood and Rohan and two smalls rotated through. Team for first final.

Smith - Grundy - Rampe
Mills - Melican - Newman
Lloyd - Kennedy - Hannaberry
Rohan - Franklin - Papley
Heeney - Reid - Haywood
Sinclair, Parker, Jones

I/C McVeigh, Allir, Hewett, Jack

Emerg. Towers, Dawson, Tippett

Assuming zero injuries:

If we go for small and nimble, for added mid rotations, and for coverage for those uncontested marks deep which burned us so badly in the first half:

In: Papley, Hanners
Out: Hayward, Tippo

Hayward unlucky. But his 3 goals from 3 disposals is not quite there for finals (Papley's output would be equivalent goals plus 16 disposals and 5 tackles).

Kid's going to be a gun though. Would back him in if selected.

Yes a one ruck team with Towers and Reid offering support.

If we go traditional

IN: Hanners, Papley
OUT: Cunners, Hayward

Pretty sure Horse will go for a derivation of option 2. And maybe swapping an injured Tippo for Naismith.

Putting any player on the field is a risk!

One with his foot and ankle clearly taped like a mummy who seems to be made of fibre glass and has no ability to play through pain is somewhat of a bigger risk

Very fine team. I'd have Cunningham instead of Hewett.

Yeah thanks but I really don't care! I was merely responding to a post that came from nowhere. Thanks for teaching me something that, like school, I couldn't give a shit about though!

I was mostly replying to the guy who asked the question. Posts aimed at you I'd try to keep to under 20 words or so. 'The tall man kicked the ball', that sort of thing.

I would still drop Towers. Cunningham must stay in. We are such a slow side so any speed helps. Need a line breaker. Jones, Rohan (if he plays behind the ball) and Cunningham. Decent trio.

I don't want to speak out of turn but I suspect he'd end any reply to you in an exclamation mark. That'll learn ya.

you're kidding if you think they will drop towers after yesterday

imagine towers had kicked that running goal out of the middle, tho

...and there is the rub. I always imagine Deano will kick straight, not fumble and take simple marks. He is arguably the most frustrating Bloods player since early LRT.

Buddy twice as good as anyone else on the field

I don't understand how that can be said when Reg was on the ground too... why was he not up there with Buddy?

I know! LRT became a legend. I did write "early LRT". He became a wonderful but always quirky player who manfully pinch hit in the ruck and never ducked his head. Deano is unhappily still at early LRT and shows limited prospects of improvement,

Deano's gonna light up September. You've gotta keep The Difference in there.

Who cares mate

He had to 2nd ruck most of the day and did a great job

He won't be dropped , he will play well ahead of others through the finals you can bet on that
Well if he does, just take him off in the last couple of minutes of the game if it is close thanks John.
