Its a shame that Bulldogs v Brisbane this Friday would've sold 10,000 tickets more if the Broncos won today.

They should ban games being played at Telstra Stadium until the finals. Such a poor advertisment for rugby league to see 10-20 k at a 80 thousand seat stadium.
How is that any different to regular 25k crowds at MCG, a 100k seat stadium?

A-League and Rugby would achieve those crowds in their wet dreams - I thought I'd point that out to those who think RL is being challenged crowd-wise by such codes.

This is a serious "non-attendance" as you put it . . . poor crowd from a one team country.

I see elsewhere you having a crack at Sydney crowds (rightfully so) but this is embarrassing. They're only averaging around 8k for '06, a not so poor season on-field with a 10-11 win/loss ratio.

Are kiwi's losing interest???

No, they have gone through stages like this before. See the Kiwis get behind a winner more then anything and they really took offence to the -4 competition points. When it looked like the Warriors might still make the finals, there were 16,000 at the game. However, after the hiding from Penrith they have realised that they are goooone and although I am usually the last to make excuses for crowds, they have had a terrible time with the weather. Against Cronulla, it was -6 with torrential rain and some of the windiest conditions I have seen. Adam Dykes had hyperthermia during and after the game. The weekends match against N.QLD was much the same.

they were minus four points before round 1. they had no chance from the start of the season. they'd be in the 8 getting 50%+ bigger crowds if they had those additional four points!

but yeah, 5k is shocking.

A great weekend for the NRL in regards to crowds, with the exception of the Warriors game at Mt Smart......

25,105 at EnergyAustralia Stadium - Excellent crowd with both the Newcastle and Manly supporters turning out in numbers. Both sides positioned highly on the league ladder and had plenty to play for.

12,830 at Toyota Park - Reasonably good crowd given the form of the Sharks this year, particularly their losing streak at the moment.

5,425 Mt Smart Stadium - Poor crowd and excuses can't be made for such a turnout. However, in saying so, inclement weather conditions and the fact that the Warriors are almost certain to miss the finals ensured that numbers were kept to a minimum.

11,704 CUA Stadium - Reasonable crowd once again. The form of the Panthers of late has been very scratchy, as has the form of the Roosters. Also, Roosters fans generally do not travel, they dont even turn up to their home games in great numbers. So in all, quiet a good crowd in the scheme of things.

18,747 Campbelltown Stadium - Excellent crowd, with large numbers of fans supporting Skandalis in his farewell match after 10 years in the top grade. This match had plenty of bearing on the finals, with Canberra dashing any hope of the Tigers making the finals and keeping their 2006 finals ambition alive.

40,159 Suncorp Stadium - A very healthy crowd given Brisbane's recent form "slump" (Wayne Bennetts favourite word atm), and playing against a side from Victoria.

31,256 Telstra Stadium - A great crowd in my opinion. Telstra Stadium is a poor venue to watch Rugby League, particularly when it is a regular season match, whilst many away supporters often avoid travelling to Telstra Stadium when playing the Dogs due to the behaviour of some supporters.

Sums it up pretty nicely.

Ivan Cleary's done a fantastic job just keeping the Warriors interested.
