Team selection doesn't really matter for this week any ins/outs should be enough for a easy win, i just thought Towers earned his spot for the year.

It kind of does. Our NEAFL team doesn't play this week due to where we finished on the ladder. With the bye after the regular season, it will be interesting about man management.

I can understand Mills getting rested/precaution because a first season in AFL must be a killer on the body/change to the system, but Towers getting dumped now......

What a turn of events it would be, if we lost this game and all blamed it on the fact we didn't have Dean Towers.

That will happen in the same alternate reality where Essendon win the premiership this season.

Do you reckon? I hope youre right. Geez Towers is stiff, yes he has some brain fades but I think he gives us plenty of run and has some X Factor. Cunningham, Mcglynn should be punted before him...

I'm totally shocked.

Cunningham is clearly the weakest player in the last five rounds who's been playing regularly. I get Marsh coming in for Mills and I'd have to think Cunningham goes out if he gets back. That may be the test for those players in this game. Very clear indication that Laidler and Teddy will only come in for injuries. Speed over experience.

Benny has been as bad as Cunningham and that's why I thought he'd go out. I thought Towers had done enough to keep his spot and floating around was memories of him being quite good in finals last year. Benny can go into the middle better than Towers so mids can rest forward? Experience over brain fade risk?

I thought Towers added a bit in the midfield the last couple of weeks with his head first kamikazee clearances but with Kizza coming in someone had to come out of the midfield mix and I think Longmire wants to give McGlynn one last opportunity to prove himself, experienced player that he is. There are probably some concerns about the ability of our young squad to withstand finals pressure, especially given the close games we've lost this season.

You don't think he has improved?
I do.

From non afl standard to just.

He is literally the last mid or forward picked. He is not that quick in reality and doesn't use what pace he has enough. Makes okish decisions but the ball in his hand does not excite me.

Defensively he tries but is so very weak. No core strength. Absolute and relative strength are terrible. Can't count the amount of tackles players have broken on him.

Has a bit of height which helps but hardly racks it up.

Who is better not playing? Take your pick in my book. The guy that replaces him is the 22nd picked. If Robbo was fit I would have him in. Foote would do.....but again we are talking the last guy in the side. Reid easily if right.

Happy if he is in not fussed if out. He has been given a huge run at it and should have locked his spot down. Balls in his court and it seems the coaches agree.

Lol Mcglynn was better than Towers last week, I don't know why people are so surprised he's out. Both are still bottom 6 fringe players and Towers for Mcglynn or vice versa is not the difference between a win and a loss.

Towers has improved but he's still a very nervous player who looks ready to make a horrible mistake a lot of times he gets the ball and he's given the coaches plenty of reason to be worried about how he might handle the important moments in a final, not in the least bit surprised Horse is having another look at Mcglynn and Marsh to see if there is a better option ahead of the finals.
If not Towers will be back but I'm glad they're having a look. I still feel Towers could be a weak link in a physical final, especially with some of his decision making under pressure. I think I'd prefer Ben and Horse seems to be thinking the same. Maybe Marsh will have a blinder earn his spot back and we can shuffle someone else (e.g a Lloyd/Cunningham) back up the ground and won't need either and everyone can be happy.

All Australian...tongue in cheek

All Australian positions should be renamed the All commentators discuss them for 3 consecutive seasons positions.

His form is AA worthy. But pundits took 10 weeks to even notice someone other than Buddy plays for Sydney.

You guys are kidding yourselves, Towers is bloody hopeless. He specialises in losing us games. If another team wants him they can have him and lets hope its a close game with 60seconds to go and the ball is in Towers hands when we play them. He also is averse to tackling and makes terrible in game decisions too.

Id rather play one short than have him out there.

Sincerely,

The voice of reason

Welcome to bizarro world, where Towers is a lock for best 22 and the points don't count

When we get Boomer Harvey next year combined with Towers and McGlynn; Papely, Heeney, and Hewett will be out of luck! =D

Oh and Spud Faritto in for Aliir....it's about the extra experience!

Did you guys see this? I think it would be smart to give Buddy the week off. He's come off week(s) off before and been firing. Anyone disagree?

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-08-25/swans-may-play-safe-with-buddy-for-tigers-clash

What no-one seemed to notice is that one of the Norf snipers (Thompson) ran straight at Buddy in a contest, no eyes for the ball, and got him in the hip with an elbow. Naturally ignored by the umpires - but Buddy was struggling to run for 2 quarters.

Yes they might be sending him a message on that, have to play both ways

Is he eligible to play NEAFL finals? If not, he will have 2 weeks off before our first final. Then if we win, we have another week off. How does he prove himself? Bit late for a message I would think
