Autopsy Round 23 vs Essendon

This might be an unpopular one but on Frampton, to me he looks well undersized for Ruck and it showed in the centre square last night.

As a chop out for 20% of the game maybe, but he’ll need to develop his forward work a heap to hold a place considering Marshall, Dixon, Hoff, Watts (!) are well ahead of him there.

There were some encouraging signs and given he should of played 4-5more games this season, the failure here is we (and the coaches) haven’t got a big enough sample of his work to make an educated call.
Carn mate it was his 1st game. Your right about his role as a chop out but many have said on here for a year or 2 he's a better
KP player than ruck.
The sample size on Neade and S gray is big enough they've racked up over 100 games between them and both played last night.
Sadly I think Hombsch is cooked. Logan Austin like Ah Chee left for more opportunities and both were up grades.
Hammer was a big loss.

NiN replacing NGI next year confirmed.
In all seriousness we are probably due a bit of a revamp of our prematch 'entertainment'. Yes it's off-season but we're also not in 2014 anymore. Times have changed man.

I had no pre concieved ideas of how I'd act at the game, and had no expectations. I bet on Essendon 1-39, but I just hoped we'd come out, play some solid footy and win.

However I rocked up, I didn't stand or clap for NGI. I couldn't be bothered raising my scarf for NTUA, though I did sing but not with much gusto. During the game I found myself not clapping anything, in fact I don't remember any clapping whatsoever. From the first bounce the team looked like a side that had all their hope sapped last week and came out with nothing to play for, where as the Bombers were well and truly accepting of their fate and just wanted to win. And I think that malaise just rolled into the crowd. They didn't care and neither did I.

I just dont care anymore. A die hard, that never misses a game and has followed this club since birth in 82. This club has pushed me to the brink with whats happening.

The people at the top may not want to accept it, but this is 4 years of failure now and we're in serious trouble on-field, but more than that we're in serious trouble off field. Supporters have been detatching emotionally fom this team for years now, and this 1-6 collapse to end the season may well have huge ramifications for our club on and off the field. Why? BECAUSE THERE IS NO HOPE. They've killed our hope. We have very little coming through and we have absolutely no options at the top.

The board must be held accountable for the Hinkley extension and Hinkley must go.

Mediocrity is not acceptable at Port Adelaide, and we can't start just accepting it.

This. All of this. I think Frampton's first goal brought a clap and a smile on my face, that was it. I didn't want to be there, I went only out of obligation, and I'm not looking forward to next season at all.

Hinkley spoke and sounded as clueless as he did in the presser. The coaches will go away and look at the why things went wrong. Really?
He did say he's looking forward to finding out why things went wrong in the offseason. Would've loved this enthusiasm over the past 7 weeks when he could've, you know, done something about it.

Whilst I’m not a Ken apologiser at all, I think his presser spoke to his love of the club and players and passion for the game. He looked like a devastated man who isn’t sure of where to from here. It drove home for me that he doesn’t have the tactical mind set but is beloved by his players and is generally well liked. A good motivator but perhaps not much more.

Mind you he wouldn’t tell a presser what went wrong and what we are going to do about it, that would be foolish. The fans needed to know he was hurting and desperate to keep his job and we saw that tonight. He also foreshadowed some changes at the club.

As we are stuck with him, we need another good tactical coach, that is for sure. Ken can motivate and set standards, whilst X gets a gameplan together.

WCE and Freo probably think so. Sheesh the way we've managed him he'd be worth 1/2 a packet of chips.
IMO a telling little fact no video of Billy getting the nod. We've been doing it for quite awhile now why not for Billy?
It's a serious Q coz the answer would be interesting. Would it reveal Ken to be a stubborn petulant double standard little prick.

2019 will be the SIXTH [emoji50] season of 'this time im going to be stronger etc'. What a fraudulent message at the best of times and now just a stale cliche of a soundbyte. Has lost any impact it once had, quit the bullshit narratives, wake up to the half a decade plus since we looked liked going anywhere and just run out to the club song like a normal club.

Yep this is the sort of thing many say, oh he's a good man, oh he's hurting, etc. However at the end of the day we don't care. We want someone who is good enough to get results in the job and Ken's sample size is now way bigger than it ever should've been, and we know he can't do the job. He may get hurt, it may not be the nice decision, but **** nice. We need to be brutal in our quest to be the best, not to just be competitive and make finals.

If Billy hadn't been pulled out of the magpies finals campaign last year we'd have won a premiership for Summo.
Ken said at the time it was to get him AFL ready for 2018. Ken your an incompetent arseh*le nup actually your a 1st class arseh*le.
Your gameplan and player management stinks and as for Voss and Lade jeez whats the point. Essendon no ruck after 1/2 time

Wonder if another members convention is planned for next year
The club actually needed a lift after the WC debacle and winning a flag would have created a winning environment. The Maggies also deserved the best opportunity to win it and were denied this. Over the last 2 years I've watched a number of Maggie games and the game plan is as ordinary as the Powers. Its hard to watch.

Heard part of Ken’s press conference. Said that the football department had let the supporters down, and tough decisions will be made.

All but the one that the supporters most hope for.

It might be time.
But if nothing else, it's time for a new captain. The tough question is - who to go with, Jonas or Ollie?
I've got no clue. There isn't a standout candidate which is alarming. I think Boak has worked his butt off and been a great servant of the club but I think its time for a new freshness to the team.

How many times have we heard about the tough decisions, never happens. At least he acknowledged that he let the supporters down.

He isn't the victim here. His presser made me want to vomit

We’ve messed with SPP’s head too, shadow of himself confidence wise.

Hes not Dusty, he needs to learn to walk before he can run. He almost looks for the fend offs as opposed to running with the ball.

Also needs to learn that trying to hoof it as far as possible really isnt effective

He acknowledged he let the supporters down but will he change. Ken’s known for his stubbornness. He keeps playing a defensive style of footy that’s not working and keeps re-selecting players that aren’t AFL standard (Neade immediately springs to mind).

He may surround himself with new coaches but will he listen to them

I went upstairs after the game and to the credit of the Port faithful there was a decent turnout. Maybe they thought there would be free donuts again. :D

Hinkley spoke and sounded as clueless as he did in the presser. The coaches will go away and look at the why things went wrong. Really? That's the best you can come up with? I am really over his We dont accept this at Port Adelaide schtick. Ken I dont think you really get Port Adelaide.

KT was there but didn't speak. Thought that was weak although I dont know if I had the stomach for more You're hurting we're hurting platitudes.

Boak at least turned up and spoke. You're hurting we're hurting. He is so likeable though. And I believe he is hurting and like a good captain he's not throwing the coach under a bus.

No sign of Good Times Kochie telling us it's unacceptable and you're hurting we're hurting.

Stop treating supporters like mushrooms and give us some honesty.

Charlie Dixon on crutches signing autographs was moving. He could rightfully be laid up in bed but he comes along and gives something back to supporters. 10 out of 10 will support again.
Did you see any members of the Club board at the post-match?

Did you see any members of the Club board at the post-match?

I wouldn't know most of them if I tripped over them in the street so I have to say no.

In Amanda Vanstone's defence she has been in Canberra talking about the Libs leadership spill. She even mentioned Port on The Drum.
