I'm pretty happy with that team. I think that T.Lo should get a game this week and from that squad, I would think that Gilmore, Cunningham and either Clive or J.Lo could be the ones to miss out. Clive could be unlucky, but for the balance of the forward line I would prefer to have T.Lo and Farmer roving J.Lo, Simmonds and Polak.

That would be good but Clive will play because he is in the 18. If Cunningham isn't cut, then I for one will not be happy. 1 of the Longmuirs will miss out... probably Troy.

I read on DL that someone has seen J-Lo named at CHF for West Perth...

memo to the big guy for my Easter request...

Don't play Ben Cunningham!!!!

I will even consider attending mass before the game if you see fit to grant my wish! ;)

On a side note: great to see Grover and Cookie back where they belong. Not sure on the wisdom of dropping Splinter. Hope T-Lo gets a run.

My prefered bench...

Cook, 211, T Lo, Browne.

Browne was good in the 3rd for us against Sydney so deserves another go. T Lo deserves a run finally and 211 and Cookie are in our best 22 every week.

Clive is easily playing better that J Lo at present (and Clives not done much). Give J Lo a reality check.

Browney, Gilmore and J-Lo to join Dunn and Splinter in the magoos this week.

Bit harsh on Browne and Gilmore - but I agree funky, J-Lo needs a huge reality check. And as for Browne and Gilmore - well Polly and Des were always going to come straight in when ready, as was Cooky, and Grover is in my best 22 and T-Lo deserves a run... so someone had to make room. Looks like a last in, first out thing with Browney and Gilmore, and maybe Dunn's not quite ready just yet. A few weeks in the WAFL will be good for him. Let him play his bum off with the gummies and earn his spot again. Good for his development!

Cunningham ahead of Woods, JLo, Gilmore, Browne?

Why?

I agree that JLo needs to build up some confidence but I'm sure he'll come good (one day ;)).

oh god.... the sinking realisation just hit me after my last post, and I returned to have my say. On the same wavelength Kenny. It's a disgrace that Cunningham is getting a game ahead of these guys. As a midfielder, Browne would have to be the most unlucky.

What is CC thinking??? I guess we just have to have faith..

Personally, I think Gilmore is most unlucky. Had excellent form in the pre-season, pretty good in debut against Carlton, and so he made some blunders last week but atleast he backed himself and had confidence in his abilities (which is more than I can say about Cunningham), and he's already dropped. I just don't get it.

I don't like getting stuck into Freo players but this is Cunningham's 5th year in the AFL and he has had enough chances and just hasn't done anything at AFL level, and shown in his last 3 AFL games that he just can't get over the mental hurdle of playing in the AFL. Everytime he gets the ball, he panics and his disposal goes everywhere.... more often then not, turning the ball over.

You also have to look at Cunningham's preseason form. I was at our preseason game against Adelaide and Cunningham absolutely dominated all day, perhaps CC hopes that he will be able to recapture that form on the weekend.

But like most of you have said, I would prefer Browne in the team over Cunningham.

Yes, but in the game before the Adelaide game (in a game that actually meant something and where there was pressure, particularly towards the end), he was absolutely woeful.

Playing well in games that mean little is one thing, but he has clearly demonstrated (to me, anyway) that he can't produce in the real stuff. He has had enough chances. Hopefully he can prove me wrong and play well and kick 3 goals again this week but I just can't see it happening.

Cut poor old Cunners a bit of slack. I have been as hard on him in the past as anyone but he does get the ball at clearances. If he didn't play against Sydney we would have got smashed as he did hold them up in the middle.

It is just a pity that he has to kick the ball.

Put the knives away for a couple more weeks at least.

It seems to me that cunningham is probably on his last chance at freo, while he has consistently good games at wafl level (and the practise match against adelaide) he just chokes up when ever he gets the ball in an afl game.

The fact that he's got a chance ahead of browne, who imo had a better game on the weekend, seems to me to be a sign that connolly is saying you'll get a decent run, now prove you belong.

Much like he did for waterhouse last year. Cunningham actually looked alright against sydney, until he kicked it. Could have finished with a couple of goals and a few more setups if he was clean.

That aside.. this team looks mighty powerful. I'm very much looking forward to how what resembles our best team plays on the weekend.

Super exciting ;)

Cunningham got his chance last year in a game that we lost (away game) and so far same with this year. Hard to get your confidence in a game where your midfield is clearly outplayed. I'm curious to see how he goes and he might suprise.

I agree with Kenny that its very much the mental side of Cunners game that is the problem. Browne looks like the better prospect but maybe Cunninghams stronger body is more what Connolly ios looking for.

He actually played for us against Geelong at Subiaco, a game that we won (just).

Whats the reasoning behind dropping Woods? I think he has been solid without being outstanding and its not like he's a forward/midfielder that needs to dominate the score/stats sheet.

And another thing, dropping Browne whilst leaving Richie in the side puzzles me. Me thinks CC knows something I don't.

:)

Didn't do anything for 3 quarters but fired in the last and kicked 2.4 Woods and Johnson played well but didn't star for Perth (who lost)
