Agree, but a short term bit of pain for the longer term gain is still potentially beneficial....

Absolutely. I missed it in the last couple of weeks and I feel it will be too late now. The little I can benefit from is is pointless when there are now other, better, options.

With his role he is playing in our team, even having a bad game he is still going to score points!

I want to see what happens when teams start showing him a bit of respect. Prove me wrong Hoff :thumbsu:

With hindsight I should have made this trade last week. My structure and current problems means I can get him (Hoff) this week, and then trade to a SJ/Franklin next week. I can't get to SJ/Franklin this week without further stuffing up my mids...

I'll then have: Cox, Rockliff, Bartel, Franklin/SJ, Wright, JJK - Dwyer, Macaffer.

In an ideal world I would make these trades this week:

Currie - Rowe
Libba - Parker (bad decision last week to change to Libba)
Pittard - Terlich
Stevens - Crouch
Karnezis - Westhoff

That would maximise short term improvement in the side. I need to then start fixing the mids and the defence.

Given what I know now, I would not have had Ablett in the side from the start, despite his Round 1 heroics... I could have used that money in other areas.

Probably go:
- Embley to Hodge. Could downgrade Embley to Crouch but already have 290K in the bank and good to get some higher scorers on the ground
- Byrnes to Rowe - the DPP with Cox might come in handy and with Kruezer out he should be getting a run of games and plenty of time in the ruck.

Strong forward line. I'm a rookie heavy at the moment which makes the decision on whether to further downgrade this week and chase the cash, or whether I begin solidifying my team, a difficult one.

I have Varcoe, Daw, (possibly) MacCaffer and (possibly) Pittard all not playing next week. Will probably go Varcoe > Rowe and maybe Daw > Sinclair if he gets a game. I don't have Crouch but will probably get more benefit out of the trades I mentioned than I will from downgrading Viney, O'Maera or Anderson to Crouch.

Westhoff boat has sailed. He's got GC this week too:(
He still has a break even -20 so he's still going to go up in price.

I'm also rookie heavy, particularly in the mids/backs. I need to get these decisions right otherwise I'm screwed for the entire year already...

Most eagles fans (myself included) think Sinclair is likely to play until Naitanui is back, between 4-8 weeks, so I think his JS is pretty good, only risk is if he plays poorly and they pick Lycett instead of him.

My trades

Zorko -> Hoff
Mitchell -> Crouch

Next week will trade Kreuzer and also bring in Mayes

I'm thinking Mayes in next week as well. Maybe as a mid and then swap him forward....

Potentially Whitfield/Lucas to Mayes, then upgrade Libba to a Cotchin/Pendles type....

With Kommer getting suspended after all...

Kreuzer -> Leunberger
Kommer -> A.Swallow

Leaves me with 142K still in the bank as well.

I'd hold Libba for another week and see how he turns out, his BE must be around 80 so he's not likely to lose money. With the saved trade make some cash with Crouch/Terlich.

Horrendous week, partly because I got a last minute call out to work and the trades I was playing around with ended up being Dangerfield to Howlett (Was going for S. Mitchell, but didn't lose out too much in the end), and Matt Wright to Westhoff (BIG WIN!), but emergencies were out of whack (Would've benched Patton for Dwyer, though Terlich's score ended up being a decent enough replacement for Waters)

Things of note to deal with:
- Kommer's 2 week absence (Hold/Trade?)
- Patton's season-ending injury (Trade, but can I wait a week with Caff as my other emergency?)
- Get Leuey before his price rise.
- Getting rid of Zorko, absolutely killing my forwardline (Thank god for Bartel, JJK, Westhoff and ... that's it)
- Waters Injury (switch for Goddard or Birchall or just back Terlich in?).
- How long do I hold on to Howlett for? The aim was to increase his value to about 500 000 and then downtrade a rookie and cash-in for the slow-starting Swan.
- While I'd really like to get onto Wines before his price increases anymore, my forward line has been my weak point for most of the season and I am happy to cop 60's from a couple of rookies for another week or two, especially when O'Meara and Viney have shown the potential to score much higher than they did this week and Crouch is doing okay.

Subsequently:

Zorko -> Rockliff/Monfries/Stokes (Want consistent scorers rather than Martin-types: I've been burnt before by chasing the big scores when really what I need is consistency so I don't have to drop Westhoff/Kennedy when they don't perform).
Patton -> Leuenberger (With Rowe to Forwardline, replacing Patton)

This will go a long way to getting the forwardline back on track. Howlett is a consistent performer so I can cope with his scores for another week.

Thinking about Embley > Hodge & Kreuzer > Westhoff ATM. Will probably change a few times before lockout though...

You want consistent scorers, yet you're considering Stokes? :confused:

Was going to do Plowman->Terlich and Kommer->Crouch, but then I saw Kreuz was out for 8 weeks.

So now it will be Kreuz->Leuey and I don't know what else. I could go Libba->Cotchin/Watson.

EDIT: I will probably still do the Plowman->Terlich trade as LP is an 8% chance to make his BE of 57. I can afford to miss Crouch I think.

I viewed his sub-affected score in the context of minutes played, and actually, thus far this year, he has played well in all his games.

K Mitch to Crouch
Kommer to some WCE guy on 2 games i've never heard of.

Trading just for the sake of trading ... Miss the old days.

One of my trades will be Varcoe-> Westhoff. There are two alternatives for the other one. Need some advice on which to choose!
1. Grimes-Terlich
2. Grimes-Hodge
Currently leaning towards option 1 but it is a seriously difficult choice. Do not want to miss out on budding premiums at just 400k (like Westhoff)!!
