With some injuries and the player in my league having similar guns to me im finding it near on impossible to choose a captain this week.
Start this rounds captain discussion. :p

Thinking Cooney vs Dockers could very well have it on a string + bang a few goals home again. Would be interesting to have captain in last game of round also or should I say tease? Aint had captain in last game of round yet this season.

Although such a long way away to make this choice... Stupid break :p

Hopefully no injuries during Hall of Fame also (touch wood)

My weekly captains I will consider

Shaw, Heath- 2 games in 2 years against St. Kilda with scores of 104 + 117. Good form coming off 130 last week. Although the Saints seem to keep scores low..Sydney style. Only 1 score of 100+ from an opposition backmen in the past 3 weeks (Newman last week 140)

Guerra, Brent- Average form, but seems to score well against Port. Scores of 104 and 133 last year. But Port also seem to keep opposing backmen quiet..probably because it isn't down there much. Smokey of the week.

Dal Santo, Nick- He absolutely dominated Collingwood, really badly. Scores since 2005. 140, 80, 112, 132, giving an average of 116. Good form with a score of 128 last week. Was my captain last week, and is looking good for a second appearance in as many weeks of being in my team

Mitchell, Sam- Weird stats against Port. A 158 and a 52 last year. Giving average of 110. But the 2 years before he also had a poor average. Best form of competition atm though averaging 130 over last 3 weeks. Might be tagged by my friend below though

Cornes, Kane- Average form. 30 possessions for 49 points isn't good, but his scores against Hawthorn are hard to ignore, 111 and 196! last year. Add to that 114 and 90 the 2 years before. That gives him a career average of 130. Tempting.

Franklin, Lance- Port have been allowing key forwards a ton of points against them this year. Key forward against Port this year:

  • Lloyd- 124
  • Roo- 97
  • Brown- 138
  • Bradshaw- 150
  • Goodwin- 137
  • Hall- 136
  • O'Keefe- 123
Gives a nice average of 130. So Buddy looks good for a big score

Pavlich, Matthew- Best forward. Also will bring you a good score. Playing Footscray, with an average of 110 against them.

My picks in order

  1. Dal Santo
  2. Franklin
  3. Kornes
  4. Shaw
  5. Pavlich

I think I'm either gonna go Richo or Ablett. Richo is too tall, fit and strong to get tagged by Ling and I don't think Scarlett will be following Richo all over the ground.

it's just less than 2 weeks away. pick a captain closer to date. Goodwin will probably be mine though as Adelaide are playing Melbourne (don't wanna hear about Melbourne not being that bad because they are sorry lol)

Worth going Chappy? Hasnt been in the greatest form but is playing Richmond....
Cox did alright vs. Kangas last year. But i do recall he scored a goal very late in the game so might have inflated it
Daniel Bradshaw vs. Carlton under the roof...
Or maybe Jed Adcock for the Carlton factor also...
Gilbee, Freo do leak points....
Birdman vs. Melbourne, do they have anyone to go with him?
I just dont seem to have any great captain options this round...

After having a solid first 4 weeks with my captain, my last 3 have been disastrous :mad::mad:

Brown vs Hawthorn, Brown vs. Melbourne and Kornes last week. So whoever i pick this week, might be a good idea for you all to stay away!

My options are;

Heath Shaw - as stated earlier, such a good option
P Burgoyne - playing hawthorn, could get a few cheap kicks
Gilbee - as said above, playing freo who are pretty.. not good at the moment
Goodes - Against essendon, should rack them up heaps. he's my choice at this stage
Cross - Against Freo, will he or Cooney get Crowley?
N. Stevens - Against brisbane down here, probably not worth a punt
K. Cornes - Said above, rips it up against the hawks. He'll probably be vice but, haven't forgiven him for this week
Stanton - Against Sydney, I'll pass
Cox - As said above, against north. Tempting, but probably no
Franklin - Again, already talked about. Who would Port match up on him?
Chapman - Against richmond, can see him drifting forward to kick a few goals
Bradshaw - Against Carlton's defence, can see him kicking a bag
Brown - Same with Bradshaw. Though too much of a risk with form and potential injuries
BJ - Plan on grabbing him this week. Playing Freo also, could see him starting to find some form now. He won't be down for long, could he be the Goodes of last year?

Anyway, that's just my 2 cents on some of my options. Like i said, I'm probably gonna lock in Goodes as a safe bet (considering my last few weeks, just want someone to get above 80!!!)

Johncock? absolutly dominating as far as i can see...i think they are playing melbourne the only question i have is if the crows start to get on top will it be down back for the stiff one to have his usual effectivness.
In the end i think ill decide between Dal and Cox.

Dal
Kornes
Buddy
Pav
Mcloed
Johncock
H.Shaw
Wona - dont' laugh.. after last weeks efforts.. if only they wern't playing Adelaide..

All these guys are seriously being considered... (ok except maybe not Wona)

but I'd have to say Buddy and Pava are front runners!

One of the following

brown - 10 goals against the blues last time, does like playing aginst them. Can he have a big game

Goodes - In good form, and playing bombers this week. Could be in for a big one

Judd - Some of his best games are against the lions, including his career high 39 touches against them

what do you think

Yeah..if Brown plays i will consider him.

Carlton have no-one that can go with him...he destroys Waite

Plus he got a reasonable score in the HoF game...not saying thats any indication, but at least he got a decent game under his belt. Hopefully he will bounce back this week

Shaw, Pav, Cox, Cross, Franklin in that order I'm thinking. If I had guts I'd probably think about Mattner because I think he'll be rebounding a heap in that game against the bombers - especially after a horrid game last week.

Cox, Adcock, Gilbee or Chapman. Help me choose. :p
