Understand what you are getting at. However for me it's a simple equation. If you think a midfielder is likely to be in the top 3 for their position at the end of the year you should just pick them from the start and be done with it. Granted this has not been a normal year in SC terms, but I'm still comfortable with my decision to have him from the start. Only reason he's been down the last few weeks is because he's been playing injured. That can happen to anyone.
I do see it from both sides. I avoided Gawn at the start, and prior to his injury, I reckon I won out on that, because I saved 250k at least, of which I am averaging 97, and used that extra cash to smash out an extra premo mid.

So, you going to put the (vc) on Treloar ? ......i prefer him today over Pendles, who IMO still won't have his mind on the job
Leaning towards it yeah. It's either him or Laird, then tomorrow I have a choice between Doc, Goldy (assuming I trade him in) and Neale if the VC choice doesn't work. In spite of Melbourne winning last week Jacobs had a field day against them, and the week before even Mcevoy had a good game. Goldy averaging 140+ in his last three against the dees.

Baby aside, I'm still not convinced that Pendles is 100% fit either.

poido Do you thing Fox will play again, or should I burn him and risk Hugh Greenwood to at least avoid a 3rd donut this week.

Its a risky move if Fox comes back in and Greenwood out. I can't think of anyone I can bring in

Hmm, might wait till after his bye to pick him up.

So cheap right now
FWIW if you are a glass half full person: Pendles only had two games under 100 in 2014, and 4 games in 2015 and 2016. He's already had four this year. That might be all????

Lairdy is a consistent ton, but rarely goes big, and not against Brisbane

Goldy against no Melb rucks could be good, but wasn't there a fitness concern expressed yesterday?

I think he will play again, IF injury hits a few players. If you can get him out, I would do it.

I'm intrigued by Greenwood, but I'd wait another round til he hits the bubble. However Adelaide's bye comes after his third game, so he might not be able to make the quick dollars that you want. You need to see how he goes under AFL footy.

Lloyd might be the better option and just hope that he lasts through to GWS bye.

I have a sneaking suspicion he wasn't sleeping properly and stressing the f.ck out with the baby on the way.

I'd say we will see the normal Pendles back this week.

Could be wrong.

Fox is certainly not doing his chances of a recall any harm. Had 28 disposals, 13 tackles and 2 goals in the reserves last night.

So would you recommend taking the Donut?

I have the midfield donut, all rookies have good BE
Ruck donut, Good scoring rucks, and Preuss good BE, in emergencies every week.
Brett Eddy in the forward line, good BE, just a matter of whether he will get another gig.

I'm worried about trading in a guy who hasn't played two games, when I have good BE players.

I traded SPP to Myers because I can't afford a 4th donut and his BE is 62 I think.

So I've got 3 under performers that I anguish over every week and don't deal with (Roughead, Shaw and Rance)

Roughead trending slightly upward but I think it's time to do something drastic with the other two - but there really aren't many options in defence. (I don't have Laird or Doherty though).

The other chess pieces I'm playing with are Treloar and SPP (who is still only $311k). Treloar disappoints me on a weekly basis - huge stats and only just cracks the tonne - so I want him out.

So I want to do a few trades in the next few weeks where I take out 2 mid pricers and replace with 1 premo + 1 cash cow.

But I'm struggling to find value at the cheaper end.

Premo midfielders I had my eye one were Rockliffe, Sloane, Oliver and Merrett.

Premo defender I'm looking at is Doherty or Liard for their sheer consistency of 110+. At the lower end I think Burton of hawks is just ramping up and scoring well now (400k so a bit of a mid pricer - prob missed the boat on that one). Again struggling to find value at the cheaper end.

Thoughts and suggestion welcome

You got Newman?

Hmm.

Go Greenwood. If he goes good, you owe me a beer.

If he goes sh.it, I will be in hiding :drunk:

OR you could bring in LLoyd and use his DPP to get rid of Eddy and sub him up to the mids? It's really anyone's guess IF and when Fox will come back, but Pincrusher made a good point about Fox playing a good game in the Ressys.

Edit: Just realised Lloyd isn't a DPP. Maybe just go Greenwood for Fox

Do NOT get rid of Shaw and Rance. That's the best advice anyone could give.

I've been following that advice for a month and I'm still angry with them.

They have the runs on the board bro.

They haven't gone that bad TBH. If you look at Rance over the last few years, his scores are up and down all the time, but you can guarantee he will be top 10 defensive scorers by end of year.

Shaw I'm not really sure what's going on with him. He's probably due for a big game, but maybe he is declining with age. Hard to say.

i doubt it. he's too much of a pro for that...should be able to switch off for 3 hours on the weekend.
im convinced he's carrying something. hopefully it wont stop him from going 120+ this week.

i'd VC Treloar or Pendles against the Hawks midfield.
they're still playing the sort of footy where winning the ball isnt that important provided you can put enough pressure on and create a turnover.
...teams are just running and handballing through it now though.
even if we wanted to play a more contested style, outside of TMitch (and Hodge to lesser extent) who's going to step up and win their own ball?
Langford? Shiels? :rainbow:
bottom line, Pies midfield will run riot.

Interesting ? .....why is that so? .....i thought his main strength was run & carry?

I think (without knowing) that Champ Data place less focus on disposal accuracy when its wet. Treloar has same numbers, he just scores better and thats the only thing i can put it down too
