Ruckwatch Round 10

Moran is firming as our best ruckman. And he's doing it by standing still. This is because Maric and Griffin seem to be losing ground and Tippett is required elsewhere. Default. The two sweetest words in the English language.

Moran was a comedy act on the weekend - the falling down, the fumbles, the kicking along the ground... yes I agree it was his best ever game though. Says plenty!

Having said that, at least it looked like he was playing for his spot in the team against Hawthorn. He put in and got involved in the play. Other matches he has looked like a mate of one of the other players, roped in at the last minute because we were short and given a pair of footy boots. Personally I prefer the Moran that doesn't get involved in the play and just drifts around - does much less damage that way.

And for that reason pretty well sums it up why we should have gone for a purpose project ruckman in the last draft.

You can't fault Moran too much. He is new to the game and probably craps his dacks every time he gets the football. Which probably accounts for his necessity to handball instantly when he gets the ball. How ever watching the game versus Hawthorn, yes he maid some comical errors, but as the game wore on he started to show some more. His tap work was alright, he looked like he wanted to be out there and he tried pretty hard. I think we have to cut him some slack and let him develop. If he can pull it all together he has the potential to be a very damaging leading ruckman. Let's just let him get used to playing football first :)
