An article in this morning's Hun was suggesting that there were rumblings happening down at Punt Road. I am not sure if they were being facetious, trying to take advantage of what would normally be a volatile time at the club, or whether there is some substance to it?

My feel is that they are trying to get some mileage out of some of the things we already know - like someone paying for the Poyas **** up and that there will almost certainly be a cleanout of players come seasons end.

Top-level Tigerland probe

RICHMOND will launch an immediate review into every facet of the club, starting with a report into its football department.

Tiger president Clinton Casey last night denied there was any friction between the club's administration and board.
Despite speculation the Tigers were faced with internal problems, Casey urged everyone to stick together, saying the club had too often in the past fallen "off the deep end" with short-term changes.

"Some of the things have fallen down and we have to find out how and why," he said.

"We have got a bit of history when the wheels fall off that we become an easy target."

Casey revealed he would be seeking re-election at the end of the season when his three-year term expired.

He said he was unaware of any challenge and would offer himself to the board for another term as president if re-elected.

After seven successive losses, the Tigers' form has been dismal compared to last season when they finished third.

Casey said the club always had an annual departmental review, but this would start with its football operations.

"But there is no knee-jerk reaction to the football department and it's just part of the review," he said.

"We are going through our normal annual review, and in the terms of the footy department, we are starting there first and we want to make sure everything is right.

"Every area of the footy club will be scrutinised and we will work out where we can improve next year."

Coach Danny Frawley presented the club with his half-yearly review at a board meeting on Tuesday night.

"He gave us a bit of a presentation on the year to date and where to from here, which the board was very impressed with," Casey said.

"We are more than satisfied with his program and are very supportive of the football department."

Asked whether Frawley told the board he believed the team's fortunes could be turned around quickly, Casey replied: "We are adopting a long-term strategy. I mean, it's not going to be a short fix."

Casey denied any internal problems and supported chief executive Mark Brayshaw and football manager Trevor Poole. He didn't think the Richmond group could be any tighter.

"It's our intention to get through this tough patch and resolve it as a group together," Casey said.

"Seven losses in a row . . . it's difficult and it has ramifications in all areas of the club."

I have to say I'm encouraged with that section of the article.

In otto and richo we have the best fwd set -up of any club in Australia...just need to mark a little time till Coughlan , Rodan and Fiora start finding them. And with Pettifer and Krakeour down there as well...things are good.

Rodan, not to be a smartass but there are better forward lines in the competition. Richo is biding time, he really is, his injuries and his attitude have set him back a tremendous amount. Ottens, after a steller year last year hasn't really produced this year, although he has hag niggling injuries (I do think he is a future star though).

I think Rodan is a champion player in the makings, lets see if he can keep it.

However, better forward lines in the competition at the moment include Port Adelaide's (even though their midfield kick alot of goals), Brisbane, with Lynch, Bradshaw and Des Headland starting to play like a number 1 draft pick (finally), also Collingwood, with Anthony Rocca, Chris Tarrant, Leon 'Magic' Davis, Nick Davis, Jarrod Molloy (when he isn't injured), Josh Fraser, Brodie Holland etc.

I do know more but about it but i am not allowed to say anything about it for a few weeks :) :D

So instead of making a public statement about what you know, what about a PM?

What substance do you give to the rumour's that the board is split 4 - 4 on whether they should get rid of Richo? is this a decision that the board should indulge in or should it be the coach and the selectors who should be making these decisions?

PM'S all round Foxhat;)

joins the que:D

altho pretty typical rumours no doubt when it comes to us and a poor season.

*heard the rumour about the board split 4-4 on richo.
*heard the rumour that their is a player split over knights and campbell regarding the captaincy.
*heard on 3aw yesterday from a caller [would have to be diggler] that we have offered dennis pagan big money to coach.

these type of rumours will continue no doubt.

cheers!

No it wasnt me TOO, but the rumblings are getting worse each week. Is the club strong enough to survive a 14 game losing streak? I hear crap that the board is split 4/4 on whether Richo was retained. If this is true, this is a joke. Who is running that club? The board have no right to make these descisions. While I dont think much of Frawley as a coach, he at least has to make this descision himself and the futures of several senior players, not the friggin board.

Actually Diggler, you may be surprised to learn that regardless of industry, the board has a say in many of the critical major operation aspects of that entity. This is true whether it be a football club, a major Bank or any large corporation.

More often than not, the board will act on recomendations, whether it be coming from the Football Departments - bear in mind that Spud gave a half year report only last week - or from independant reviews, and will not make decisions of their own bat.

Remember that it is the board that is elected by us, the members, to govern our club. It would be sorely remiss if they didn't have some input over the retention of a critical employee - one that not only affected the football operations but also other areas such as marketing and sponsorship.
