There is a rumour circulating that mark williams will coach the club next year and bring the cornes boys with him. Any one else heard that

This is the only problem we'll find with having a coach resign mid season, the ridiculous rumours that will be floated around until we appoint our new coach.

Personally if Mark Williams brought his choking culture to the Crows I'd be surrendering my membership quicker than I could PoptiffsCherry.

Good God NO NO NO NO NO... Who the hell wants to be bored to death with his minor round "everyone else but us floods" and "they bottled the game up" boring as all hell game plan. And the now I am gunna ripe your heart out finals tactics...

No thanks, rather have Cornes back, well errr maybe

Yeah, heard it & gave me a laugh. Agree with Fergus on this one. No way AFC would get the coach from the mob across the road & even if they did, no way Port would trade us the Cornes boys.

you guys should just start ONE thread with rumours ... from all sources then you can just name the thread "crap" or something... other wise you might find about 30 odd threads coming outta your ears about this coaching thing ;)

I Heard Chocco wants a long term deal at Port but they won't give it to him. Richmond is prepared to offer him 4 years!!

I hope he takes that option then cause I dont want him anywhere near the AFC. So who will Port's coach be then?????

Gary Ayres, as it will save him from relocating back to Melbourne. ;)

They love the ex-Bombers at Alberton.

Funny you should say that coz i also heard Kevin Sheedy wants a pay rise at Windy Hill but they are reluctant to give him one. If he does want to leave they are going to make a massive play for him!

I don't know whether i believe this. Or at least i hope it's not true!

You could do a lot worse than appoint Williams - and I personally think you have. Williams is doing ok at Port and it is just a matter of time before we carry home and away form into finals.

Craigy is your coach now and will be appointed Crows coach for 2005+ before season end. All this talk and propaganda by the club about searching wide and far is a smokescreen - he's got the job and you should accept that and give him your support.

Wildly speculative.

You're trying to put a curse on us.

yes, we could do a lot worse than Williams, but that means precisely what? we could appoint Tim Watson, but so **** what?

doesn't make Williams a good choice- if you don't want him, why would we?

you say this based on what?

yes, I know you have a source/mate at that pub/insider at the club/blah blah.

You can all laugh all you want about Williams, as at the moment he has what a lot of people see as a couple of flaws. Mostly to do with defensive attitudes in finals and important games.
He has been criticised on all boards on BF, including the PA board, but credit where credit is due please.
To be a coach one has to have many traits and he is not just good but excels in most of them.
All in all he is the type of coach that when he gets things right he is able to reproduce them again and again. No such thing as flukes with him.
There is also no such thing as premiership one year, and then quit the next if the team struggles. He will be there at the front fighting as hard if not harder than everyone else.

From our point of view, if he gets the finals bit right I fully expect to win many premierships with him as the coach and not just one or two. As mentioned above, that is the type of coach he is.
Here's hoping.

I certainly wouldn't criticise Williams.
Comments IMO was the scepticism that it was a figment of someones imagination and never likely to happen.

What I like is his preparedness to change his coaching techniques/tactics based on what works/doesn't.

Better than a stubborn coach who won't challenge or change his philosophies.

Nothing wrong with Choco as a coach IMO. Apart from their disappointing finals series, Port Adelaide's home and away record for 3 years has been outstanding.

Once Choco tweaks their game plan to work in finals and eliminates their fear of failure in finals he will be a great coach.

I'd certainly have him as our coach. The chance of that happening - zero.
