Guys,

as per the media announcements by the club, I would think the preference in any trade deal would be for a pick so that we can free up a spot on the main list and avoid delisting anybody else. Of course if some crazy situation arises where we are coming out ahead we'd have to take it but I reckon they will have a preference for picks over swaps in any Bower/Setanta deals

RE: Setanta and Bower.

Both of them are looking for more playing opportunities at other clubs. If there are no suitable opportunities offered to them, then they are perfectly willing to sign new contracts at the club and see how they go over the course of the next 12 months.

After another 12 months, Setanta will be getting close to 30 and might think about heading home permanently to finish off his hurling career or taking up a career in gaelic football.

Bower, may, come good and be over the soft tissue injuries to his quads that has plagued him over the course of the last 2 years and have another year like 2009 and he could step up to being our preferred 3rd tall in defence in which case, T-Bird might start playing permanently forward for us which makes Setanta redundant.

Mind you, Setanta could come out and kick 10 goals against Bitchmond next year and continue on with the same vein and put T-Bird out of a job as a forward.

And I think that Waite is just holding off on signing a new contract to see what happens during trade week so that he can give the club the best chance of signing a big name and then working out a deal with the remainder.
They don't compete for the same spot:rolleyes:

T-Bird's agent on TWR at the moment. Just revealed he's signed up for another year.

Missed the term. So definitely just the one year?

Exactly, the club needs to free up a couple of spots on the list so trading a player for player is pointless.

Essenscum - Where former Blues go to die.
I wouldn't mind finding a list of players that have gone from Carlton to play at Essendon int heir final years.

Scott Camporeale and Matty Allan are the only two that come to mind seeing as my footy brain doesn't date back too far. :o

We have restricted salary cap space - which is why we are quiet.

That's not very clever of us, if that is the case.
I've heard otherwise though.

If we're tight now, how on earth are we going to fit in some of the big boys next year?
Gibbs, Warnock, Kreuzer, Robinson, Yarran, Laidler etc. etc.
