Does the AFL still hand-out runner-up medals to the players of the losing team on GF day? What a joke that is/was!!!!
The AFL can be dead-set clueless sometimes - which player wants a runners-up medal? And now they want to give players who played in the drawn GF but not the winning GF a premiership medal?????? They employ the services of Lionel Ritchie?????? Are they serious?????

Ever since Barry Hall was allowed to play in a GF after clonking whoever it was in the guts 100m off the play, the AFL has become a circus with matters GF-related.

I understand that in addition to singing at the GF replay, Lionel will be handing out "medals" to Shagga and Azza for their "contribution" a year or two ago to another memorable day in the history of the AFL.

I think that's right. And I also think it is a good idea because despite the huge disappointment each of them will be feeling right now, they were the second best team in the competition and this needs to be recognised.

They were distributed on field in 1980, and then again the following year in 1981 when Collingwood went down to Carlton. However, after Peter Moore and a few other Collingwood blokes chucked their medals into the crowd in disgust, the practice was abruptly discontinued.
