Great, thanks for the heads up mate. That's very cheap. Any idea how long the sale will last?

You need to be a Rebel member...which is no big deal. Free and easy to sign up to. Not sure how long that member price applies though sorry.

Tempted myself. Feel like my old Forerunner 210 is reaching its end date but I've bought that much online stuff lately (gels, race entries, new New Balance runners) related to running that I feel like another parcel turning up will push the wife over the edge lol.

Haha. Valentine's Day is coming up. I'm sure she'd love a new foam roller

Haha - anniversary a few days after Valentines too.

Funnily enough on Valentines day I'll be at the MCG off my **** rocking out with mates to Guns n Roses. I'm so amped already looking at the set lists they've been doing.

I couldn't resist and got one last night. My other watched had died completely so I was able to convince my wife. Plus that price was too good to pass up. Couldn't believe it was over $150 less than the 230/235.

Love to hear how Comrades goes. I've read a little but about it. Meant to be an amazing experience. Your first?

First time OVERSEAS let alone doing something like this. Next 2 months will be a massively hard slog. Hearing there will be about 6 Million watching in South Africa (coverage goes all day) so check the streams because there's a chance you'll see me or one of the other 160 Aussies entered.

What is the race you most want to do? Domestic and International.

Domestically, wouldn't mind doing the Outback Marathon based near Uluru. Internationally, of the majors the one I'm most keen to run is Tokyo. Singapore also has appeal but work commitments will always make running this logistically impossible.

What do you think of it? I'm still deciding.

I ended up grabbing it as well. I was looking at getting the 235 but had a few mates say that if you could get a 630 for a similar price then i should jump all over it. So when came on special for 299 I grabbed it (wife actually bought it as a birthday present :D). Loving it so far, I thought it might be a bit of a waste of money and not too different from my tomtom but its a great watch. Plus its got a great battery life.

I was coming from a nearly 10 year old Forerunner 10 so the baseline is pretty low, but Im pretty happy with it so far. Not sure how much I'll realistically look at most of the data fields outside Pace, Distance and Time (especially with the HRM), but there's a lot of info there if I want to get my teeth stuck in. I like the notifications, since I'm always missing calls, and the activity tracker functions are useful. It looks good enough to use as an everyday watch and the battery life is definitely a great feature. As Milang said, it was a bit of a no brainer for those like us looking at the 230 or 235. The 630 has more features and was on sale for over $150 less.

I'd be interested if anyone has any IQ Connect Apps they can recommend? DW Maps might be worth try to help my navigate some untried routes, but I'm not sure how easy it is to use on the small screen?

And have you guys had much experience with Garmin courses/routes/workouts etc? I've tried searching some new runs in my area but nothing is showing up.

Sorry, that was all a bit long winded, but I'm still trying to digest it all.

Connect IQ stuff that i use,

Data Fields:
Visual Pace Alarm
https://apps.garmin.com/en-AU/apps/3940f3a2-4847-4078-a911-d77422966c82
exactly what it says. the data field changes colour depending on your pace. its customizable and makes it easy to get get an indication of your pace at a glance.
i use this as the pace field on my main running screen

Widgets:
Battery Meter
https://apps.garmin.com/en-AU/apps/5a2a4c1e-9f95-4116-b61a-f8bea4ca47d7
just because the battery indicator on the standard digital watchface is shit

Watchface:
Line
https://apps.garmin.com/en-AU/apps/8f8adabf-8cb1-4ffd-b40e-283350d47601
its clean, simple and heavily customizable.
i dont wear the watch anymore unless im running but when i did this is watchface that i used.

i've got no idea how the courses thing works but workouts are simple.
create custom workout in Connect, upload to watch, access from activity menu>training>my workouts

MinerBoy just buy it. worry about explaining/justifying it later. at $299 it really is damn good value for money.
im tempted to pick one up myself.

Bit of a video of the KI marathon I did in August. Great views of Remarkable Rocks, Cape du Couedic lighthouse and the rest of Flinders Chase national park just got to get up and down those hills first before you see them. ;)

I don't post in thread much, but read it regularly.

Just wanted to share (brag haha) that I did an impromptu half marathon this morning (was planning on doing 16km but felt good so kept going) in 2 hour and 53 seconds. Knocked 15 mins off my PB. Super stoked!
Good work mate. Youll be under 2 hours in no time.

I got one for the missus too - I really wanted the 235 with built in HR... and I'm not a fan of touch screens. I gotta do some research now on getting her some apps (she only got her first smart phone this year...at 31)
I was a little worried about the touch screen too but I actually love it now, works well even when its raining or really sweaty.

Does anyone have much experience with running on the beach? I love to run on the (hard, wet) sand, however I always get blisters because I run barefooted. Would those naked type running shoes be a better option?

They would definitely help with the blisters. Expensive though, unless you are going to run in them full time. I started out with a cheap ($10) pair of those aqua shoes. The type scuba divers etc wear.

Like this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Skin...se-Pool-Beach-Swim-Slip-On-Surf-/380915724460

Had no issues with blisters. Wore to shreds in about 6 months. That was running on concrete as well. At $10 it didn't really matter.
