Depends on how bad it is. Hopefully its the same as what i did back in year 10. I was out for 6 weeks but had most movement back by 3, and im not worlds greatest male specimen either. He will miss the NAB cup, should be right for round one i would think.

********ing hell.

didnt grima from north miss like 18 weeks with a dislocated shoulder last year?

Once again, Rusling has a shoulder injury, but...Rusling, gets injured after a pre-season, so he won't lack pre-season training, and he shouldn't miss too many matches with this injury in the Premiership Season, if any.

******** yeah, Grima did too, as did Colin Sylvia, which wasn't as long term, yet missed the last month.

He'll miss the NAB Cup but it's not the absoloute worse injury to get unless there are some problems due to his previous collarbone injury, although I'm not sure if that would make the injury worse in any way or not.

Are there any other reports of the intra-club match?

EDIT: Have heard it's pretty serious and there are ligament damage and minimum is 6 weeks.

This couldn't have come at a worse time for him as he has had a good pre season and was ready to secure a spot in our starting 18. Lets hope he comes back during the season and plays some really good footy which we know he is capable of.

Very bad news, certainly not what we, the club or Ruz needed prior to the NAB Cup. The jury remains to be seen, but those photos did not look great. Rusling's shoulders were strapped up over the duration of pre-season training, which stems from, I think, his collarbone/shoulder injury sustained in round 17 last season against St.Kilda (via a Lenny Hayes bump in the second term). It will be interesting to see if it is the same injury. We do, however, have six-seven weeks until round one of the Home and Away season. If it is a 4-6 week injury (as most dislocated shoulders tend to be), he should at least be back at Williamstown by rounds 1-2.

The poor kid, a terrible thing to occur on the eve of a season, especially seeing has he has been touted as a player with a real future. The club has not released an official diagnosis, so lets just hope for the best. I just hope that this is the last major injury we suffer for the season.

Carn the Pies! Go Ruz!

It is bad news, particularly if he has weak shoulders. Hopefully it's just bad luck. Given his #1 asset equal with speed is his overhead marking, I hope he gets over his shoulder problems asap.

That said, there's time before the season and I personally don't have him in my best 22 just yet, so there's even more time.

We've had a share of problems, but at least this year, it's to the kids.

There is six-seven weeks left until Round 1, so I hope we don't get any more injuries prior to the Home and Away season.

Collingwood haven't had too much luck in those intra club matches up North.
Fraser was set for a big year until he got injured over there last year (Fraser missed most of the year because of the injury). I think Bucks got injured in that same game, too.

spot on figgy

bad news and do really feel for the kid

but on a positive note he aint one of the pies gun players let alone a certain best 22 player, so no major disruption to the pies best team as of yet

Shocking news, but he is young and he will bounce back. He probably wouldnt have played round one anyway, thats not to say that the injury wont effect his career. I just hope this isn't a sign of things to come!
Jebus Help us! or just leave us alone!

As long as there is no significant ligament damage, a lot of players keep playing with the shoulder taped up and have the op post season.

Worst case scenario is it is a bad dislocation (very loose, bad ligament damage etc) and he needs a shoulder reco. That would be a minimum 3-4 months off. But Juddy has gone alright after 2 shoulder recos.

That's not what we want to hear, hope the guy bounces back....

Any news on the game IE game reports or any thing like that?

Only other news that SEN gave as I heard the same report and almost drove off the road thinking "here we go again" with injuries was that Didak, Davis and Burns were the best three on the ground, Dale Thomas did some nice things and Shannon Cox kicked a few goals.

Last year he broke his collarbone.

This year he dislocated his shoulder.

While they may be related, this is not the re-occurring injury that people are making it out to be.

And even if it does mean he might have shoulder problems for a while, Wayne Carey played a majority of his career with his shoulders taped up pretty heavily, and it didn't stop him from going on to become one of the greatest players of all time.

He was definitely in my starting 18 as he was in MM's starting 18 thats why he was given the number 2 jumper because they thought he was going to feature prominately in the seniors.

That's one.

Do you all have such short memories? 12 months ago (well, 13 to be more precise) we were "fit and firing for 2005 with no injuries, except for Richards who was expected to recover early in the season". What happened?
Between January and March we lost Fraser, Bucks injured his hammy (not badly, but an indication of later things), I'm sure there were more injures (Didak(?)), and then by Round 4 we were missing our top four players and our season is over.

Why are people getting so excited that we are "fit, keen, strong, and hungry" in early Feb? I would call that 'normal', and anything less would be a disappointment. If we are still all those adjectives April/May, then I'll get excited!

I don't think we were ever settled. Josh did his knee injury in 2004 and it simply resurfaced several times despite our desire to get him on the park. Buck's hammy was always going to twang again pre-surgery and he was stuffed. Didak's knee was gone early. Richards was perpetually crook. Tarrant's knee was barely good enough to get him on the park all year.

Then we had a host of others in the "Infirmary". It never looked good, despite the fact that we managed, in theory, a near full strength team against the Bulldogs.

This year, there's no sign of injuries to anyone but first and second year players. Whilst that ain't ideal, it's not exactly like we can rely on them to give us any more than cameos at this stage.

Yeah, everything can go to ******** again in a matter of minutes, but there's no point beating yourself up about something which hasn't happened yet!

Well said, Figgy.

Matt, don't get yourself worked up over nothing. :D
