i really like jordan russell and i think he would be great as a small forward rotating to the midfield just like betts. i think the cfc should start developing him as a small forward your thoughts people???????

Exactly, with the midfield and forward line looking the way it is...the backline is the only way you will get into the Blues lineup now...

Played his best game for the club against the Pies across HF, presenting really well on the lead.

Probably competing with Houlihan for a forward berth, not as clever as houlihan, but might be better defensively.

We can't afford to carry any forwards who won't give 100% when opposition have the ball.

Verdict: Houlihan, but he must provide 2nd & 3rd efforts.

Exactly, and this is going to be his likely position in 2008. Just doesn't have the class IMO to play through the midfield, and he most certainly isn't a backman.

I imagine Russell as a Roger Hayden/Gilbee type off half back. Always have. Personally i think his speed off half back would be brilliant for us. You only have to look at the game against port at TD this year to see how well he breaks the lines. (but i'm guessing this is what Benjamin is being groomed for?)

I think he'll struggle at HF. I hope that he can really make an impression at HF however, as we need another small target up there with Eddie rotating through.

Never the less, let's hope he can come through for us this year.

Judging by the role Ratts seemed to have for Eddie toward the end of the year, I'd have Russell ahead of Betts at this stage.

Russell came on leaps and bounds with the arrival of Ratts. Another one to watch bloom in '08

Must have missed the bounding and leaping myself.

Like i said in another thread, i think that due to the current depth of our midfield, Russell will probably struggle to get a run in the middle. Therefore i think that he is going to have to be forced down into the forward line where he can use his speed and athletic abilities to play as a leading forward.

He can do that role for the Bullants if that is what Teaugey and Skinny want... If we are to improve this year hopefully JR won't be in teh seniors all that much.....
