Coach Rutten sacked - no, really this time. Could the Dodo face extinction too? 🙏🙏

This will be such a blow to North who went all in on the messiah model…only to potentially be trumped by another clubs messiah model approach.

interesting drama ahead.
He's the best coach of the last 20 years you think clarkson would have been sitting his arse for 12 months? he was tudying and learning on how to become an even better coach during his time off he's hungry as ever to coach

He's sorta sacked. Not officially sacked but either they get Clarkson and he gets sacked or he had some pride and walks out.

Rutten should walk out regardless. It's so clear that he's about to be sacked, it's just a matter who for lol

Can someone help me out with this?

As an AFL coach, if the probability of your being sacked the week before a game against Richmond = p, with p being some finite and significant fraction of unity with all other temporal sacking probabilities neglible in comparison, and let's say by the vagaries of the fixture you play Richmond twice in the season, is your probability of being sacked in a season = 2p or = p^2?

Spare me the fluff stuff about his trips to America watching the NBA.
I was simply just commenting on the approach of both clubs and what a blow it would be for a team like North.

He was a dead man walking regardless of whether they approached Clarko or not.

Sizeable risk to go for someone whose last success was 7 years ago and last few seasons were pretty unimpressive. Malthouse had made a grand final 12 months before Carlton knifed Ratten for him, as had Lyon when we got rid of Harvey.

Does anyone else think Clarko also comes out bad in all if this ?

If he is appointed Essendon Coach, not only did he seem to string North Melbourne along, but he also (if you believe some of rumours on the Essendon board) had been White-Anting Ben Rutten for about a month now.

Both are dog acts in my book, esp stabbing Rutten in the back.

Agreed. Remembers years ago James Hird on the couch before his tenure unequivocally saying "no" he won't be Essendon coach next year. Then 2 days later they announced it, meaning he was talking behind the current coaches back and said he wasn't on TV. Full of s**t.

This is Essendon we're talking about, of course they want Hird - for the Bombers this is validation that they did nothing wrong during the drugs saga
Yep. This is it.

Essendon fans have fallen into a horrid parallel universe and this is the only action to correct it.

Finally their lives will make sense again.

Media are suggesting that it was the Clarkson camp that approached Essendon too, so yes.

Considering they had a coach, and he'd often suggested clubs needed to back their young coaches in, this takes some more shine off of his legacy.

Way too many conflicting stories going on. Rutten sacked vs Rutten not sacked, Essendon has met with Clarko vs Essendon hasn't met with Clarko, Clarko approaching Essendon vs, them approaching Clarko, Essendon doesn't have a plan and is yet to speak to him vs Essendon have been masterminding this for a month.

If nothing else it's evidence that these campaigner journos simply make s**t up most of the time.

Find it hilarious that the bombers keep sacking coaches and staff thinking it’ll solve everything. It won’t solve s**t, it’s a terrible list, shocking backline, forwardline and a front running midfield who turn to water when the heat gets turned up. Trade a few midfielders and get some decent kpds, a key forward and two small forwards.
Clarkos a fool if he picks essendons list as the one he wants to lead, north and gws are miles ahead of them.
